Grounded in science and deep technological understanding, we support climate-aligned companies addressing Europe’s biggest challenges, from energy security to industrial sovereignty to critical infrastructure. The Role

We are hiring a full-time Analyst or Associate for our Berlin investment team, shaped at either level depending on your experience.

You will help us find, understand, and back the companies that will define the future of the European industrial stack. Your work sits at the intersection of science, capital, and storytelling — translating breakthrough technologies into clear investment cases the team and our LPs can act on.

What you’ll do
  • Manage the top of our deal funnel — sourcing, screening, and tracking early-stage opportunities across our investment pillars.
  • Run first calls with founders, and present the most promising companies to the wider investment team.
  • Conduct due diligence on shortlisted companies: technology and TRL, market sizing, unit economics, team, and impact.
  • Co-author investment memos and contribute to investment committee discussions.
  • Lead deep dives into emerging technologies and sectors.
  • Build and maintain AI-native workflows for the team — using LLMs, agentic tooling, and connected data sources to scale our sourcing, research and diligence. You will be expected to design, run, and improve the playbooks the rest of the team relies on.
  • Represent Extantia at pitch days, accelerator events, and ecosystem gatherings. Build durable relationships with founders, researchers, and co-investors.
About You

We are interested in people from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences. The list below describes our ideal hire, but please apply if most — not all — of it resonates.

What we’re looking for
  • STEM background. A degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. Chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, energy systems, physics, or a closely related field is especially relevant given our deep-tech focus.
  • Intellectual curiosity. You enjoy getting up to speed on unfamiliar technical domains quickly, and you can hold your own in a technical conversation without bluffing.
  • Clear communication. You can take a complex technical concept and explain it simply, in writing and out loud.
  • AI-native working style. You already use LLMs and agentic tools in your day-to-day work — ideally with hands-on experience in agent pipelines, RAG, or MCP tooling — and you are excited about designing the workflows our team runs on.
  • Self-starter mindset. You can prioritise your own work, manage multiple workstreams in parallel, and follow through without close supervision.
  • Fluent English (our working language).

Nice to have (none of these are dealbreakers)
  • Prior experience in venture capital, startups, research, engineering, or strategy / consulting — typically one to four years, but we care more about how you think than how long you have been thinking.
  • A point of view on where the biggest leverage points are in manufacturing, energy, robotics or industrial decarbonisation.
  • Additional European languages.
  • An existing network in the climate-tech, deep-tech, or founder ecosystem.

What We Offer
  • A meaningful role at one of Europe’s leading deep-tech VCs, with real ownership of pipeline and influence over investment decisions from day one.
  • A close-knit, collaborative team that invests in your development — you will work directly with Partners, Principals, our Director of ESG, and our marketing lead.
  • Access to a broad deep-tech network across Europe and beyond.
  • Regular team offsites and a competitive compensation package.
A Note on Applying

Research consistently shows that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds — including women, people of colour, LGBTQ+ candidates, people with disabilities, neurodivergent people, and first-generation professionals — often hold themselves to a higher bar before applying. Please do not. If most of this description resonates, we want to hear from you. We assess every application on its merits, and we are committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of the founders and communities we serve.

We are happy to adjust the application process to your needs. If accommodations would help you put your best work forward — additional time, an alternative format, specific tools, or anything else — please mention it in your application or email us. The conversation is confidential and will not affect how we evaluate you.

How to Apply
  • We have replaced the traditional cover letter with a short Application Pack. The format reflects how the role is actually done day-to-day.
  • Apply through our single application form at https://forms.gle/yEh1vBuPCTHLMheD9 by 30 June 2026. You will be asked to upload:
  • Your CV. Standard format.
  • A one-page deal sheet using our template, which you can download from the same page in Word or Google Docs format. Pick any company you would consider an interesting Fund III investment. We care about how you think, not whether you pick a company we already love.
  • A 3-minute video (Loom or equivalent) walking us through your deal sheet. Unedited. We are listening for clarity of thought and conviction, not production value. Paste the link into the form.
  • Optional but encouraged: a link to one AI workflow you have built or maintained. A Claude project, a custom GPT, an n8n flow, an MCP server, a research agent — anything you have actually shipped.

A note on AI: use AI tools however you find useful. We ask you to disclose how you used them on the deal sheet — we reward thoughtful use, not avoidance.

Accessibility: the form requires a Google account for file uploads. If this is an obstacle, email hr@extantia.com and we will accept your application by email instead.

We do our best to reply to every application, but may only be able to follow up with the most relevant candidates. In person with flexibility.
