SUMMARY:
Bilnor Staffing Solutions' client in the mining industry is looking for an experienced ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR to join their team based in Delmas, Mpumalanga.

POSITION INFO:
The successful candidate will ensure adherence to the approved Environmental Management Programmes and Environmental authorisations, Water Use Licenses, and other applicable South African environmental legislation. This role requires strong on-site presence, contractor engagement, and proactive monitoring to ensure environmental performance and regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities: Monitor mining and contractor compliance with approved Environmental Management Programmes, Environmental Authorizations and Water Use License conditions. Conduct and document regular internal environmental inspections, audits, and compliance reviews, to identify potential risks and areas for improvement. Maintain environmental incident logs, complaints registers, and aspect registers. Coordinate environmental matters between internal project teams, contractors, regulatory authorities, and stakeholders. Track corrective actions and ensure timely close-out of non-compliances and incidents. Monitor and track environmental performance metrics to measure progress and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Support environmental compliance reporting to internal governance structures and oversight bodies. Oversee the planning and implementation of environmental projects, including waste management, recycling programs, and energy efficiency initiatives. Deliver environmental awareness training where required. Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to promote environmental awareness and best practices. Develop and implement environmental policies and procedures in accordance with relevant regulations and standards. Stay current on environmental laws, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance and best practices are maintained. Qualifications and minimum requirements: At least a B.Sc. Honours Degree (4-year degree) in environmental science, or a related field (or similar with proven experience). Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance and management. Professional registration (or eligibility for registration) with a recognised environmental body, preferably SACNASP and EAPASA registered. Advanced computer literacy. Knowledge of local environmental regulations and standards. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team. Valid driver's license Experience and technical competencies that will be advantageous: Proven working knowledge of South African environmental legislation (including NEMA and related regulations). Practical implementation of Environmental Management Programmes. Environmental risk identification and hazard assessment processes. Environmental incident investigation and reporting. Environmental auditing and inspection experience. Experience working closely with contractors in operational mining environments. Working knowledge of the mining industry environmental compliance requirements. Environmental inspections and auditing. Strong report writing and documentation skills. Use of digital compliance and reporting platforms. Basic environmental monitoring (waste, water, erosion, heritage). Use of mapping tools (e.g., Google Earth or similar). Construction site environmental compliance experience. Willingness to work full time on-site. Knowledge of sustainability initiatives (energy, waste, water efficiency). Understanding of biodiversity, ecology, natural resource management and climate change. Preference will be given to an applicant demonstrating more than 5 years proven experience in related field within the mining industry. Behavioural competencies: Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills. Conflict resolution and practical problem-solving ability. Ability to operate independently and in teams. Adaptable and resilient under pressure. Professional communication skills (written and verbal).
