Position: Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)

Who are we recruiting for:

Our client is a fast-growing renewable energy IPP backed by a multi-billion-dollar infrastructure investment fund. With a strong pipeline of operational and development-stage assets across North America, the platform is entering a key phase of commercial expansion and strategic growth and is seeking a Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to lead its commercial strategy and market positioning.

What will you be doing:

  • You will lead the overall commercial strategy of the platform, supporting long-term revenue growth and market expansion objectives.
  • You will oversee commercial activities across power markets, offtake strategy, origination, PPA negotiations, route-to-market agreements, and energy management partnerships.
  • You will develop and manage relationships with utilities, corporates, traders, offtakers, investors, and strategic counterparties.
  • You will support the commercial optimisation of the operational portfolio, including merchant exposure, hedging strategies, and revenue enhancement initiatives.
  • You will work closely with development, finance, and investment teams to support project bankability and commercial structuring throughout the project lifecycle.
  • You will lead commercial due diligence and market analysis activities for new markets, acquisitions, and strategic growth opportunities.
  • You will build and scale high-performing commercial, origination, and market analytics teams as the platform grows.
  • You will act as a strategic business partner to the CEO and investors, contributing to board-level discussions, growth strategy, and portfolio expansion initiatives.

Are you the ideal candidate?

  • Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Energy Markets, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in senior commercial leadership positions within renewable energy, IPPs, utilities, power trading, infrastructure, or energy transition environments.
  • Strong expertise across power markets, PPAs, route-to-market strategies, energy trading, and commercial optimisation.
  • Experience negotiating complex commercial agreements and managing strategic counterparties.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy market dynamics, merchant risk, and revenue modelling.
  • Experience engaging with institutional investors, infrastructure funds, utilities, and corporate offtakers.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
