Job Summary
The successful candidate for this position will be joining our commercial design engineering team. The main focus of this role will be designing and reviewing building and module layout drawings for commercial solar projects in Canada and the United States, working within a team of solar designers. Candidates must be willing to work remotely from 9:00 am - 5:30 pm Eastern time.
We are looking for a candidate who: has excellent problem-solving skills; is an independent worker with a collaborative mindset; has excellent time management skills; has technical skills, such as CAD experience; and has excellent English communication skills.
This position is a work-from-home position; the ideal candidate will be expected to provide their own workstation and stable internet connection with a minimum download speed of 75 Mbps. Please note, professional written and verbal English proficiency is a requirement for this position.
Responsibilities
- Design and review building and module layouts for commercial-scale solar projects
- Perform research into AHJ-specific design requirements
- Perform research into design considerations and limitations for racking systems
- Assist with developing process improvements
- Build CAD and Excel templates as needed
- Communicate with clients and provide technical support as needed
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar
- Minimum 1 year of CAD experience
- Experience designing commercial solar PV arrays is considered an asset
- Experience designing residential solar PV arrays is considered an asset
- Experience with flat roof racking systems is considered an asset
- Knowledge of the International Fire Code (NEC) and its application to PV systems is considered an asset
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Strong project management skills
