Position Summary:
EVgo is seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Director of Compensation to shape and lead the company’s total rewards strategy during a pivotal period of growth and transformation. This role is responsible for designing and governing compensation programs that fuel performance, attract and retain top talent, and uphold our culture of equity and transparency.
You will partner closely with the Chief People Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Compensation Committee to align compensation frameworks with business goals and shareholder value—spanning executive compensation, annual and long-term incentive programs, and global pay structures. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with analytical rigor, bringing deep expertise in benchmarking, program design, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Lead the design, implementation, and continuous evolution of EVgo’s compensation strategy to align with business goals, talent philosophy, and financial objectives.
- Executive Compensation: Partner with the CPO, CFO, and comp committee to design and govern executive and equity programs, including annual and long-term incentives, benchmarking, and proxy-related deliverables.
- Compensation Planning: Oversee the annual compensation cycle merit, bonus, and equity reviews ensuring accurate modeling, budgeting, communication, and alignment across the organization.
- Job Architecture & Market Competitiveness: Maintain and advance EVgo’s job architecture, salary ranges, and pay structures to promote internal equity, external competitiveness, and clarity in career progression.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Finance on headcount and budget planning; advise Talent Acquisition on offer strategies and market positioning; and partner with HRBPs and Legal to ensure fair, consistent, and compliant compensation practices.
- Governance & Compliance: Ensure all compensation programs adhere to federal, state, and global regulations, including pay transparency, FLSA, and disclosure requirements.
- Data Analytics & Insights: Use compensation analytics to provide insights and actionable recommendations to senior leaders and the board; track market trends, competitive practices, and emerging legislation.
- M&A Integration: Lead compensation due diligence and integration for acquisitions, ensuring alignment with EVgo’s philosophy, equity across teams, and smooth transition of legacy pay structures.
- Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 8 years experience; or equivalent working experience.
- Deep expertise in executive compensation, equity programs, and public company environments
- Proven success partnering with executive leadership, Finance, Legal, and HR
- Strong analytical skills and mastery of compensation tools and systems
- M&A and global compensation experience highly valued
- Exceptional judgment, discretion, and communication skills
