Research Engineer for Hydraulic Prototype Testing

Apply now
At Everllence, we tackle big challenges posed by climate change. We design two-stroke engine combustion technology for large ocean-going merchant vessels, and our technology contributes significantly to the decarbonization of the shipping industry.

All fuel injection and valve actuation on our world leading marine propulsion engines is driven by extremely fast and powerful hydraulic systems, and new engine designs usually require development of new hydraulic and injection components and systems. If you thrive in an environment of fast paced technology development and share our passion for decarbonizing the shipping industry, the position as Research Engineer could be your next career step.

You will play an important role in:

  • Participating in tests on our test rigs in Copenhagen as well as full scale prototype engine tests at our licensees, typically in Japan and South Korea. Tests are carried out to validate system functionality and identify the optimal parameter settings, e.g., for new hydraulic exhaust valve actuation systems or injection systems
  • Collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders and departments, sharing knowledge and experience to contribute significantly to the success of new technology development
  • Delivering control parameters for the engine control system (ECS)
  • Participating in design reviews
  • Participate in component and system troubleshooting and root cause analyses (RCA)
  • Work at our Research Center in Copenhagen, with 40-80 travel days per year, typically at our licenses in Japan and South Korea

We imagine that you:

  • Have engineering degree in mechanical engineering, marine engineering or equivalent qualifications
  • Have at least 5 years of experience with Everllence B&W 2-stroke engines
  • Are experienced in one or more of the following fields: fluid mechanics and hydraulics, mechatronics, experimental testing and instrumentation, operation or design of large marine engines, data analysis
  • Have hands-on skills and enjoy working in an experimental and test-lab environment
  • Are a team player, structured in your work and possess strong communication skills
  • Are curious to learn new things and open to new ideas
  • Are proactive and positive in nature and self-driven in your work

Welcome to Hydraulic Prototype Testing

You will join the Hydraulic Prototype Testing Department within the functional area Hydraulics and Injection Development which is responsible for developing fuel injection/admission concepts and design prototypes for fuel equipment, hydraulic components and systems. The team is testing new components and systems, in particular fuel injection systems and exhaust valve actuation. We test on both physical real-sized test-rigs and on prototype engines including measurements, data analysis,

documentation and feedback. In our Research Center Copenhagen (RCC), we have a dedicated hydraulic prototype testing facility including a workshop, where we build-up new test-rigs and run test campaigns in a controlled environment. There is an excellent collaboration, both within the team and cross-functionally, where everyone is committed to succeeding as a team by being supportive and flexible. The working environment is informal, where we cherish the space for creativity and freedom to play with new ideas.

What can you expect from us:

We offer a great place to grow your skills and be part of exciting projects. You’ll get access to modern tools and technologies, and we’ll support you with professional training to help you learn and improve.
