Energy Storage & Power Distribution Team Lead

Apply now

We are looking for a hands-on engineering leader to manage a team of six engineers delivering high-voltage battery, power distribution and vehicle integration projects.

You will work across a varied portfolio of customer programmes within automotive, off-highway, mining, marine and rail. Projects typically last between three months and one year, providing exposure to different technologies and engineering challenges.

What you will do:

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of six engineers.
  • Delegate work, manage priorities and monitor delivery against agreed objectives and KPIs.
  • Act as the main technical contact for customers.
  • Translate customer requirements into clear engineering tasks.
  • Oversee HV system design, simulation, prototyping, validation and testing.
  • Support the development and integration of HV battery and power distribution systems.
  • Coordinate suppliers and resolve technical or quality issues.
  • Improve engineering processes and safe HV working practices.
  • Support resource planning, recruitment and future team growth.
  • Contribute to customer discussions and future business-development opportunities.

What we are looking for:

  • Strong experience designing or developing electrified vehicle HV systems.
  • Previous team-management experience, including delegation, mentoring and developing engineers.
  • A degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience within an engineering consultancy, Tier 1, automotive OEM, motorsport or off-highway environment.
  • Experience delivering systems from design through prototyping, validation and testing.
  • A practical understanding of HV safety, diagnostics and issue resolution.
  • Strong customer and supplier communication skills.
  • The flexibility and agility to work across multiple fast-moving projects.

Experience across both HV batteries and PDUs would be valuable, but it is not essential to have equal depth in both areas. Candidates with strong wider electrified-vehicle HV systems experience will also be considered.

Experience in design for manufacture, BMS, HV battery integration, PDU/HVJB development, thermal management, DFMEA or relevant safety standards would be advantageous.

This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your engineering experience, shape a growing technical team and work across a varied range of electrification projects. For the right person, there may also be future progression into greater customer engagement and business development.
