Your Role
As Global Technology Specialist, BESS, you will be the global technical authority on BESS within Global Reliability & Surveillance, driving reliability improvements, major incident support, and global governance and standardization across our BESS fleet. You will support retrofit, repowering and decommissioning activities, capture cross-technology lessons learned, and provide handover and commissioning support so that new assets are technically sound from day one. Working in close alignment with competence centers, you will shape technical decisions across countries.
Main Responsibilities:
- Act as the global technical authority on BESS, supporting local Asset Performance teams, EPC and suppliers on complex issues, such as troubleshooting, major incidents and repowering/refurbishments.
- Create and maintain a strong network of external vendors, OEMs, industry experts, and other critical technical partners.
- Lead complex troubleshooting and root-cause analysis, converting lessons learned into technical standards, maintenance strategies and fleet-wide improvements.
- Challenge OEMs, suppliers and EPC on technical grounds, ensuring we go for optimal solutions.
- Protect the operational perspective during commissioning and handover, ensuring what EPC delivers is technically acceptable and maintainable for the operational phase.
- Understand BESS as a complete system and its interfaces – battery, BMS, PCS/inverters, EMS, HVAC/thermal management, fire and safety systems, transformers, protection, SCADA/communications and relevant interfaces to the wider plant.
- Overall responsibility for safety and risk assessments within BESS operations.
- Collaborate effectively with PV, wind, electrical/HV, SCADA/communications and IT specialists, since many sites combine technologies and solutions must work at plant level.
Your Daily Tasks Include:
- Data analysis for diagnostics and performance optimization.
- Technical input into planned and corrective maintenance strategies.
- Lead or support troubleshooting on-site and remotely for issues that exceed normal operational capability.
- Negotiate and define Service Level Agreements with external partners.
- Optimizing spare parts management.
- Develop and maintain framework for contingency plans in collaboration with QHSE.
- Technical support to Development and EPC regarding new projects, including Agreements FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.
- Participation in BESS competence center initiatives.
- Staying updated through participation in relevant BESS industry forums.
