ESA is looking for a highly motivated Energy Planner and Project Manager with 20+ years of related work experience, who can support various environmental compliance and regulatory processes for renewable energy and electric infrastructure projects. This role values collaboration , delivery , and quality work in a dynamic environment . The position is remote from Northern California, with occasional onsite visits.

Who You Are

  • You are a seniorlevel professional with a minimum of 20+ years of related experience, including research, impact analysis, report writing, and quality assurance/quality control reviews. You have proficiency with the California Environmental Quality Act ( CEQA ) and experience with the National Environmental Policy Act ( NEPA ) and similar regulations; proposal writing experience is a plus.
  • You hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in environmental science or a related interdisciplinary field.
  • You have strong project management, business development, writing, and analytical skills, and effective oral presentation abilities. You build teams, mentor staff, manage subconsultants, and coach colleagues to foster teamwork.
  • You have led marketing and business development pursuits, including developing capture strategies and leading proposals, interviews, and presentations.
  • You ideally have experience preparing analyses and evaluations related to renewable energy and electrical infrastructure projects.
  • You are located in California, ideally Northern California, and can work remotely.

What You Will Do for ESA

  • Serve as project manager, senior project manager, and/or contributing author for CEQA and NEPA documents on energyrelated projects.
  • Manage tasks, project or task budgets, invoicing, and delivery schedules; handle logistics, maintain information resources, and meet with team members to track progress.
  • Act as the point person for team member or client questions; prepare or direct research and analysis; support or lead public outreach related to environmental review; deliver assignments on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrate solid writing and listening skills; lead client meetings and present complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Lead marketing and business development pursuits for selected tasks or moderatecomplexity projects, including scopes of work, schedules, budgets, technical input, and interviews.
  • Provide mentorship and supervise junior staff, reviewing work for accuracy and clarity, and offering constructive feedback and career guidance.
  • Thrive in a fastpaced, challenging environment, managing multiple responsibilities and deadlines independently or with a team.

Salary Range

$166,502 $185,003 USD
