The Four Pillars

The Role

We're looking for a Technical Lead to own the Azalt AI platform end-to-end. You'll drive architecture decisions, and ship features that help enterprises manage their sustainability journey. This is a hands-on role. You'll be writing code daily and shaping technical direction.

Responsibilities

Technical Ownership

• Own the Azalt codebase architecture and technical roadmap

• Make key decisions on data models, API design, and system integrations

• Ensure code quality through reviews, testing practices, and documentation

• Balance technical debt against feature velocity

Feature Development

• Lead development of core platform capabilities: form builder, dashboard system, emissions calculations, and reporting engine

• Design and implement integrations with enterprise systems and sustainability data sources

• Build scalable multi-tenant architecture with proper data isolation

• Optimize performance for large datasets and complex calculations

Product Leadership

• Run technical planning, sprint ceremonies, and architecture discussions

• Establish coding standards and development workflows

• Collaborate with research & impact team to translate requirements into technical solutions

• Lead client onboarding, platform configuration, and on-premise deployment for enterprise accounts

• Serve as the primary technical PoC for clients during implementation, ensuring platform delivery aligns with operational requirements

Platform Reliability

• Ensure platform stability and performance at scale

• Own incident response and post-mortem processes

• Maintain security standards for sensitive enterprise data

• Manage database migrations and deployment pipelines

Technical Stack

Frontend

• Next.js, React and TypeScript

• Tailwind CSS, Mantine UI

• XState for complex form builder state, Zustand for simpler state

• Recharts and AG Grid for data visualization

Backend

• tRPC for type-safe APIs

• PostgreSQL with Kysely ORM

• Row-level security for multi-tenant data isolation

• NextAuth for authentication

Infrastructure

• Turborepo monorepo

• Vercel deployment

• AWS S3 for file storage

• Docker/Kubernetes for containerization

Testing

• Vitest for unit/integration tests

• Playwright for E2E testing

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering experience

• Minimum 1 year experience in serving as tech lead

• Strong TypeScript and React expertise

• Experience building and scaling Next.js applications

• Solid PostgreSQL knowledge including performance optimization

• Track record of shipping complex B2B SaaS features

• Comfortable with full-stack development and owning end-to-end delivery

• Clear communication skills for cross-functional collaboration

Preferred

• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture

• Background in compliance, reporting, or data-heavy enterprise applications

• Familiarity with sustainability/ESG domain (GHG Protocol, emissions calculations)

• Experience with tRPC, Kysely, or similar type-safe tooling

• Understanding of form builders or workflow automation systems
