Program Associate- Climate Operations (Agriculture)
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of Nature Based Solutions (NBS) carbon projects focused on Sustainable agriculture, agroforestry
- Ensure that all project activities align with the carbon standards such as Verra or Gold Standard
- Organize and conduct training sessions and workshops on Sustainable agriculture, crop management, and efficient water usage practices like alternate wetting and drying (AWD).
- Build and maintain relationships with local communities, government bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
- Engage with NGOs, farmer groups, Agri cooperatives for successful project implementation.
- Oversee the monitoring of soil organic carbon (SOC) levels, crop yields, water usage, and other relevant parameters as required for carbon project verification.
- Collaborate with universities, research institutions, and other partners to enhance the scientific rigor of the project.
- Prepare detailed project reports, presentations, and documentation of field activities, project progress, and challenges faced.
- Maintain records and documentation required for carbon certification bodies like Verra or Gold Standard.
- Identify potential risks in project execution and propose mitigation strategies.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Agriculture, With a specilization in Soil Science, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in rural development work, agriculture, or horticulture project implementation.
- Strong understanding of climate-smart agriculture, regenerative agriculture, conservation agriculture, and NBS approaches.
- Hands-on experience in working with farmers and rural communities.
- Experience in implementing carbon projects under Verra, Gold Standard, or other carbon certification bodies is a plus.
- Proficiency in monitoring & evaluation, and reporting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work in rural settings and travel extensively.
