Overall Function
EDF is excited to expand our Audience Insights team. The Manager, Persuasion Research & Campaigns will help build and lead a new capability to monitor relevant false narratives and create and implement debunking and inoculation campaigns into our digital marketing and media relations. You will work with various data sources and the global coalition, Climate Action Against Disinformation (CAAD), to help the team understand the digital conversations, specifically the false narratives, that affect our brand, our mission areas, and our key target audiences.
This newly created position will report to the VP, Performance Marketing, lead junior staff, and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders including close coordination with our Marketing and Communications Teams and CAAD members, to build a program that combats the most harmful mis/disinformation.

This position can be based remotely within the contiguous United States.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coach junior members of the team, help the Senior Manager create influence with senior leadership through data driven insights and strategic thinking.
- Work with Senior Manager, internal stakeholders and external partners to design, implement and maintain a comprehensive anti-misinformation program that will identify harmful narratives impacting EDF’s work and ways to combat them through rapid response and long-term campaigns that incorporate proven inoculation and debunking tactics.
- Use cutting-edge software to manage the day-to-day monitoring, understanding and communication of the mis/disinformation narratives that negatively impact EDF’s ability to achieve progress.
- Monitor the evolving sources of misinformation and develop proactive strategies to address them. Develop strategies for iterative message testing and identifying and reaching key persuadable audiences.
- Establish data-driven mechanisms to determine the efficacy of our persuasion campaigns.
- Prepare regular progress and performance reports and timely updates on data collected.
- Socialize learnings internally and with key external partners to increase our ability, and that of the broader environmental sector, to effectively combat mis/disinformation.
- Translating insights into tangible actions for content creators and creative agencies
- Assist with other reporting needs like influential ad hoc reports on key topics and conversation trends important to our audiences, campaigns and internal stakeholders.
- Participate in advancing EDF DEI goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.
Qualifications
- At least 6 years of relevant work experience
- Solid experience leading, coaching, and developing digital marketing professionals to deliver against the strategy on time and on budget
- Superior presentation, communication, organizational and time management skills, with experience presenting to Senior and VP-level executives.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize a varied workload, with no supervision, including the ability to rapidly adjust priorities to account for new opportunities.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with and influence colleagues and partners of varied backgrounds and experience.
- Experience creating and driving compelling online content
- Experience with behavioral psychology and persuasion messaging techniques
- Experience with digital listening tools such as Meltwater, Buzzsumo, or Crowdtangle is a plus
- Strong analytical ability and experience with digital marketing testing methodologies
- Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
