About the Opportunity
Envana is expanding its Sustainability and Decarbonization team and is seeking an experienced Climate and Sustainability Consultant to support our growing portfolio of European clients. This is a high-impact opportunity to work at the forefront of the energy transition, helping major industrial organizations reduce emissions, comply with evolving regulations, and build credible pathways to net zero.
In this role, you will advise clients across hard-to-abate sectors such as steel, cement, chemicals, and energy, developing practical decarbonization strategies that balance commercial realities with climate ambition. You will support the delivery of projects covering areas such as:
- Industrial emissions reduction roadmaps and transition plans
- Undertake greenhouse gas emission assessments and verification
- Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) readiness and compliance
- Setting Carbon reduction targets (SBTi)
- Energy transition strategies
- Support with sustainability disclosures, CSRD and IFRS etc.,
This position offers the opportunity to shape Envana’s consulting delivery, contribute to high-impact sustainability projects, and ensure our work continues to meet the highest standards of technical excellence and client value. Ideal candidates bring strong project experience in industrial and energy sectors, a solid understanding of European climate policy, and a passion for enabling practical, scalable decarbonization.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver carbon accounting and GHG emissions assessments (Scope 1, 2, and 3) for industrial and infrastructure projects
- Collaborate with clients to understand their sustainability goals and challenges.
- Support development of decarbonization strategies and carbon management plans
- Familiarity with key EU climate policy and regulatory compliance (CBAM, CSRD etc.,)
- Support lifecycle assessments (LCA) and carbon benchmarking
- Build decarbonization roadmaps for industrial sectors and identify reduction opportunities
- Prepare client-ready reports, presentations, and technical documentation
- Model emissions-reduction scenarios and evaluate cost-benefit tradeoffs for technology and fuel shifts.
- Collaborate with Envana’s Catalyst product team to integrate data-driven insights into client solutions.
- Assist in research and development of new services and methodologies
- Support business development, proposals, and thought leadership initiatives (e.g., white papers, webinars).
Qualifications & Experience
- 5-7 years of experience in industrial decarbonization, sustainability consulting, environmental planning, or climate strategy
- Experience working with industrial processes and high-emission sectors (e.g. steel, cement, chemicals, refining, manufacturing)
- Experience developing GHG inventories (Scopes 1, 2 and 3) and carbon reduction strategies in line with the GHG Protocol
- Understanding of EU regulatory frameworks, including CBAM, CSRD, IFRS and SBTi guidance
- Experience in carbon management plans, and/or energy transition strategies
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel; experience with emissions modelling tools an advantage
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills, with a strong track record producing high-quality technical deliverables
- Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. engineering, environmental science, sustainability, energy systems, environmental planning, economics)
- Fluency in English required, additional German language a plus
