Electrical Engineer
Hybrid Work Schedule : 3 days onsite/ 2 days remote each week
** Position can be worked in Houston, TX or Denver, CO **
Summary: Apply design knowledge in medium and low voltage power distribution, grounding, lighting, motor control, variable frequency drive, and misc. equipment specification and selection
Must haves:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering required
- P.E. license plus
- ELECTRICAL Substation Design -MUST
- Combine cycle power Plant experience
- Experience with “Trailer Mounted Power“ a big plus
- Experience in the specification of LV and MV transformers, switchgear, motor controls, and variable frequency drives.
- Experience Prepare technical reports and present findings to clients
- Develop equipment specifications, bills of materials, and cost estimates
- Ensuring compliance with IEEE, NESC, NEC, and utility-specific standards
Add/look for the responsibilities below from candidates:
- Support the full lifecycle of substation projects 13kV-345kV
- Lead and/or support substation projects from concept through design, construction, and closeout
- Develop and review complete substation design packages, including:
- Physical layouts (plan & elevation views, above and below grade)
- Yard layouts, grounding systems, and lightning protection
- Raceway, conduit, and cable routing designs
- Control building layouts and cable schedules
Create and review:
- One-line and three-line diagrams
- AC/DC power systems and battery sizing
- Protection & control (P&C) schematics
- SCADA and communication systems
- Relay panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and cable lists
Perform and review engineering calculations, including:
- Grounding and lightning analysis
- Insulation coordination
- Voltage drop, cable sizing, and conduit fill
- Short circuit and load flow (as applicable)
