Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SCADA Engineer to join our renewable energy team, specializing in the design, implementation, commissioning, and maintenance of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind energy projects. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring reliable monitoring, control, and data acquisition for renewable assets, supporting grid integration, performance optimization, and compliance with industry standards. This position involves collaboration with engineering, operations, and project teams to deliver high-performance SCADA solutions in a fast-paced renewable energy environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and develop SCADA systems, including HMIs, PLCs, RTUs, network architecture, and data historians for solar and wind farms
  • Integrate SCADA systems with plant controllers, inverters, turbines, substations, and grid operators, ensuring seamless data flow and control
  • Perform commissioning, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and troubleshooting of SCADA infrastructure on-site and remotely
  • Develop and maintain points lists, logic diagrams, alarm configurations, control narratives, and IP address schemes
  • Provide technical support for SCADA-related issues, including outage restoration, cybersecurity implementation, and regulatory compliance (e.g., grid codes, NERC standards)
  • Review contractor proposals, designs, and documentation; evaluate compliance with project specifications and industry standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (EPC contractors, OEMs, grid operators) to optimize system performance and resolve integration challenges
  • Program and configure SCADA software, databases (e.g., SQL), and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850)
  • Monitor system performance, analyze data for inefficiencies, and implement upgrades or retrofits for existing assets
  • Support project management, including documentation, training for operations teams, and occasional site travel

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation, or a related field (Master's preferred)
  • 3-7+ years of hands-on experience in SCADA engineering, with specific expertise in utility-scale solar PV and/or wind energy projects
  • Proven experience with renewable energy SCADA systems, including turbine controllers (e.g., GE, Vestas, Siemens) and solar inverters/plant controllers
  • Proficiency in SCADA platforms (e.g., Ignition, OSI Monarch, Wonderware) and programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL, C++, Structured Text/IEC 61131-3)
  • Strong knowledge of industrial networks, communication protocols, cybersecurity best practices, and grid interconnection requirements
  • Experience with PLC/RTU configuration, HMI development, and data acquisition from field devices (e.g., meteorological stations, relays)
  • Familiarity with relevant standards (e.g., IEC 61850, grid codes) and tools like SEL RTAC, Orion LX, or similar
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Willingness to travel to project sites (up to 25-30%) and hold a valid driver's license

Preferred Skills:

Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) integration.

Certifications in SCADA systems or related technologies.

Knowledge of power plant controllers and overlay applications for remote operations centers.

We offer competitive compensation, opportunities for professional growth in the renewable energy sector, and the chance to contribute to sustainable energy projects. If you are passionate about clean energy and have the technical expertise to drive SCADA excellence in solar and wind, we encourage you to apply.
