Position Overview
The Scheduling, Forecasting & Energy Dispatch Manager will lead the planning, optimization, and real-time dispatch of generation assets. This role ensures that outsourced forecasts and schedules are accurate, compliant with Indian regulatory requirements, and effectively utilized for real-time dispatch and market participation to maximize profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Design & Implementation
- Define end-to-end processes for forecasting, scheduling, and dispatch aligned with CERC/SERC/CEA regulations
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for coordination with Scheduling & Forecasting companies, RLDCs/SLDCs and market operators
- Establish frameworks for compliance, reporting, and performance monitoring
- Provide inputs to senior management on regulatory changes and market opportunities
- Vendor & Third-Party Coordination
- Manage relationships with approved third-party forecasting and scheduling agencies
- Review and validate forecasts and schedules provided by vendors before submission to RLDCs/SLDCs
- Ensure compliance with CEA, CERC, IEX and SERC regulations
- Monitor adherence to Deviation Settlement Mechanism (DSM) regulations and minimize penalties
- Act as the primary liaison with POSOCO, RLDCs, SLDCs, and regulators for scheduling and dispatch matters
- Energy Dispatch & Asset Optimization
- Use third-party forecasts and schedules to guide real-time dispatch of IPP assets
- Optimize dispatch strategies to maximize revenues from DAM, RTM, GTAM, and REC markets
- Market Operations
- Coordinate with trading desks to align dispatch with commercial strategies
- Participate in power exchanges (IEX, PXIL) using validated schedules and forecasts
- Track market trends and regulatory changes impacting IPP operations
- Performance Monitoring
- Evaluate accuracy and reliability of third-party forecasts and schedules
- Develop KPIs to measure vendor performance (forecast accuracy, schedule compliance, DSM exposure)
- Build a roadmap for continuous improvement in forecasting and scheduling accuracy
- Recommend improvements or vendor changes based on performance reviews
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Management, or related field
- Experience: 8+ years in power operations and dispatch management in the Indian power sector.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Indian power market regulations (CERC, SERC, CEA)
- Experience with scheduling/forecasting platforms and dispatch optimization tools
- Experience in Energy Market Trading
- Soft Skills: Negotiation, regulatory awareness, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration
