HES Content and Training Developer
The role
As HES Content and Training Developer, you will develop, maintain and improve energy advice and training content used by Home Energy Scotland. This includes web content, factsheets, templates, workshops and e-learning resources.
You will work with colleagues across the organisation to make sure advice is accurate, relevant,up to date and aligned with quality standards. You will also support advisor training and knowledge management, helping improve advice and support delivery leading to better outcomes for customers.
This role suits someone who enjoys writing clear, engaging content, translating technical information into plain English, and contributing to climate action and social impact.
The team
You will join the Home Energy Scotland (HES) team, part of Energy Saving Trust’s national advice services. Home Energy Scotland is dedicated to helping households reduce energy costs and carbon emissions. Our advice network plays a critical role in supporting those facing fuel poverty across Scotland.
The team works closely with advice centres, training colleagues and energy knowledge specialists. We value collaboration, clear communication and continuous improvement. This role plays a key part in ensuring advice content is accurate, consistent and easy to use.
Your work will directly support advisors and help households make informed decisions about energy use, fuel poverty support and home improvements.

What You Will Do
- Create and update energy advice and training content for Home Energy Scotland services.
- Review and improve advice materials to ensure accuracy, consistency and clear referencing.
- Manage advisor-facing guidance and knowledge resources.
- Work with advice centres and internal teams to gather feedback and improve content quality.
- Support training activity to improve advisor confidence, performance and customer outcomes.
- Ability to write effectively for a range of audiences and channels including web, e-learning, presentations, factsheets and supporting materials.
- Willingness to learn about accessibility and needs of specific audiences to produce appropriate advice resources.
- Ability to build relationships and influence internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Confidence in making presentations.
- Good numerical analytical and research skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and PowerPoint, and other communication-related software packages.
- Experience in successfully explaining technical information to a nontechnical audience.
- Experience developing reference and guidance materials for use by advisors.
- Results orientated with the ability to work to deadlines, handle change, solve problems and make tactical and strategic decisions.
- Focused on quality and client and customer satisfaction.
- A willingness to learn about Home Energy Scotland, fuel poverty support, and/or domestic energy efficiency advice.
