The role

  • Working in a small, expert team, your work will directly contribute to improving the well-being of those experiencing fuel poverty, helping to ensure that every household receives the support they need.
  • You will be the subject matter expert on the support to vulnerable households provided by the Home Energy Scotland network, especially Warmer Homes Scotland.

The team

  • This role sits within the Home Energy Scotland team at Energy Saving Trust.
  • Home Energy Scotland is dedicated to helping households reduce energy costs and carbon emissions. Our advice network plays a critical role in supporting those facing fuel poverty across Scotland.
  • The Fuel Poverty team oversees our work to deliver tailored, expert and compassionate support to householders who are living in fuel poverty or at risk of becoming fuel poor.
  • We have a supportive and collaborative working environment in which everyone is supported to develop and grow their skills while helping to reduce fuel poverty and tackle the climate crisis.

What You Will Do

  • You will lead the fuel poverty support team and support them to resolve complex casework, supervise appeals to the Scottish Government fuel poverty programmes for householders, and handle enquiries from stakeholders including MPs, MSPs, the Scottish Government and escalated enquiries from Home Energy Scotland advice centres.
  • Be the key operational contact for organisations including the Scottish Government Warmer Homes Scotland team, Warmworks (managing agents of Warmer Homes Scotland), Fuel Bank Foundation, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and others.
  • Support the maintenance of existing and help introduce new initiatives to help those in fuel poverty, including establishing procedures, monitoring, reporting, and training on schemes to the advice network.

What You Will Bring

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent relationship building, influencing, and negotiating skills with the ability to interact at all levels, from customer service to high-level stakeholders.
  • Confidence in making presentations, delivering workshops and facilitating meetings, in person and online.
  • Confident using customer relationship management and case management IT systems.
  • Focused on quality and client and customer satisfaction.
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, available support for fuel poor households, including Scottish Government funded programmes for improving the energy efficiency of fuel poor homes.
  • Line management skills/ability to lead a small team.
