Overview

We are seeking an experienced, outgoing, and highly motivated Field Engineer based in San Francisco to join our team. As a Field Engineer, you will play a crucial role in delivering energy efficiency programs and services across the commercial, industrial, and agricultural sectors.

In this position, your responsibilities will include identifying new customers, raising program awareness, and identifying energy-saving opportunities within customers' facilities. Your focus will span various sectors, including commercial buildings (high tech, biotech, healthcare), industrial facilities (manufacturing, mining, food processing), and agricultural operations (crop production, dairies, wineries).

To excel in this role, you should possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. You will be responsible for offering energy efficiency solutions to potential clients and guiding qualified prospects toward successful program engagement. The ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences and articulate engineering principles will be essential. By driving program participation, you will contribute to significant reductions in energy usage at customers' facilities.

Collaboration is key in this position. You will work closely with internal and external team members to gather information and ensure the successful delivery of technical results to our diverse clientele.

Responsibilities

  • Perform outreach and communications to end-use customers to drive program awareness and identify energy efficiency projects.
  • Utilize analytical tools and measurement techniques to evaluate the performance of, and make recommendations for, energy systems and equipment.
  • Perform Energy audits for various non-residential building types, including commercial, industrial, and agricultural facilities
  • Prepare written analysis of findings and recommendations for energy efficiency, demand response, and self-generation measures for submission to clients.
  • Guide interaction and dialogue with diverse stakeholders, both internal and external, to gather pertinent information via fieldwork on customer sites.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within the energy efficiency, commercial, industrial, or agricultural industry.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles related to energy efficiency, particularly systems including HVAC, refrigeration, pumping, compressed air, steam, motors, and industrial processes.
  • Understanding of utility energy efficiency, demand response, and self-generation programs
  • Experience and knowledge of energy-consuming processes in agricultural facilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient PC skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to read and interpret design documents
  • Basic knowledge of data collection methods
  • Technical writing skills
  • Resourceful technical research skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Experience and proficiency in project management
  • Understanding of Measurement and Verification techniques

Desired Qualifications

  • PE License or EIT
  • CEM
  • Experience assessing and analyzing the energy-consuming systems of commercial, industrial, and agricultural facilities
  • Experience using energy modeling and simulation tools
  • Familiarity with building codes and/or industry-standard practice.
  • Master's degree in engineering or related technical field
  • Active Member of Professional Association with Technical Committee experience
