Director of Construction

The Role :
The Director of Construction will be based in our Arlington, Virginia headquarters. The Director of Construction will oversee, coordinate, and manage the company’s construction project portfolio.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities :
The Director of Construction is anticipated to have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Plans and directs day to day operations and strategic direction of large, utility scale solar construction programs as well as lead a team of high performing professionals
- Significantly contributes to creating and maintaining best in class policies and procedures
- Establishes and maintains supply chain relationships
- Leads, manages, develops staff, across multiple utility scale solar construction projects
- Provides guidance and project leadership ensuring projects are meeting or exceeding company expectations
- Directs as many as 25+ external vendors per project comprising General Contractors, A&E design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers, etc.
- Leads in establishing and maintaining high value relationships
- Leads in developing and executing effective contract administration procedures, including generation, review, and monitoring of prime contracts, subcontracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other pertinent documents and documentation
- Helps the Senior Director of Constrauction leading project teams including Project Managers, Project Management Assistants, Site Superintendents, and Subcontractors
- Manages all aspects of construction projects from pre-construction to project close-out
Education and Experience :
- Degree in construction management or related field preferred. Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education
- 7+ Years of experience in commercial construction project management or development
- PMP or other project management certification preferred
Work Location, and Travel :
This position will be based in Arlington, VA. Travel may be required throughout Virginia and the mid-Atlantic region up to 25% of time.
