Job Description

We are seeking an in-house mid-level Associate Attorney to join our team on-site in Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the legal team with respect to renewable energy project development and finance agreements
  • Communicate with commercial team members and liaise with outside counsel for each of the foregoing
  • Negotiate, draft, and manage transaction documentation for M&A, debt and equity investmenttransactions, from term sheet through closing, including due diligence
  • Support development and finance teams in negotiations with contractors, suppliers, landowners,government agencies, investors, and finance institutions
  • Provide legal support across a range of legal issues affecting a renewable energy company, including regulatory, commercial, construction, real estate, HR, and finance issues
  • Work with outside counsel as required in support of litigation and other dispute resolution procedures
  • Oversee management and organization of legal documentation and administrative tasks for day-to-daylegal team operations
  • Identify and analyze legal issues and risks, and ensure legal compliance across the full spectrum of legal issues facing the company
  • Participate in establishing and implementing the company's legal policies, goals, and objectives

Qualifications, Education, and Training

  • J.D. from an accredited law school; must be licensed to practice law in at least one state
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in a legal practice, preferably in the energy sector or in project development (but not required)
  • Commitment to bring practical and commercially-oriented judgment to bear in solving legal problems
  • Strong written communication skills and a high level of proficiency in error-free drafting are required
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Self-starter with ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects and competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to change in a rapidly-growing and dynamic company
  • Work experience prior to law school is preferred but not required

Job Location

The company office in Arlington, Virginia with minimal travel requirements.
