Sustainability Consultant

Are you a Mechanical Engineer / Building Services Engineer who has developed a strong interest in sustainability and building performance?

I'm currently working with an established consultancy in Leeds looking for a Sustainability Consultant to join their growing team.

This would suit someone with a mechanical engineering or building services background who wants to apply their technical understanding to sustainable building design, energy efficiency and improving building performance.

You’ll work alongside mechanical, electrical and wider multidisciplinary design teams across a range of commercial, residential, healthcare, education and mixed-use projects.

You’ll be involved in:

• Developing sustainable design strategies for building projects

• Using your mechanical/building services knowledge to improve building performance

• Supporting low-carbon and Net Zero design solutions

• Building physics and thermal performance analysis

• Dynamic thermal modelling and overheating assessments

• Supporting planning and Building Regulations requirements

• Working with mechanical design teams to optimise HVAC and building performance

• Contributing to BREEAM and sustainability assessments

• Reviewing building performance and identifying opportunities for improvement

• Working closely with architects, engineers, clients and other design professionals

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in candidates with a background in:

• Mechanical Engineering / Building Services Engineering

• Sustainability / building performance consultancy

• HVAC and building services design

• Building physics and thermal performance

• Low-carbon building design

• IES VE or similar modelling software

• BREEAM / sustainability assessments

• Building Regulations and planning requirements

• Working within multidisciplinary design teams

You don't necessarily need to have spent your entire career in sustainability — a strong mechanical/building services engineer who has moved towards sustainable design and building performance could be a great fit.
