About the Role

We are seeking a Project Director (BESS) to lead large-scale renewable energy projects from origination through to Final Investment Decision (FID). This role is responsible for managing project development activities, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, overseeing consultants, and driving commercial outcomes to support successful project delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead renewable energy projects through the full development lifecycle to FID.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, risks, governance, and key deliverables.
  • Coordinate internal teams across engineering, grid, commercial, legal, and stakeholder functions.
  • Oversee planning, environmental approvals, and technical studies.
  • Manage consultants and contractors, ensuring quality, budget, and timeline requirements are met.
  • Support grid connection and regulatory approval processes.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement with government agencies, landowners, communities, and industry stakeholders.
  • Drive commercial outcomes including land, grid, environmental, and investment strategies.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Prepare management reports, governance approvals, and investment documentation.


Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years’ experience in renewable energy, energy infrastructure, or major project development.
  • Proven experience delivering utility-scale solar, wind, BESS, or hybrid projects to FID.
  • Strong understanding of grid connection processes, NEM operations, and energy markets.
  • Experience managing planning approvals, environmental assessments, and land agreements.
  • Strong commercial, financial, and risk management capabilities.
  • Experience managing consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliver projects in a complex regulatory environment.


Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Renewable Energy, Planning, Business, or a related discipline.
