Technical Managing Director(Renewables & Battery Storage)


Very few leadership roles let you build a company’s technical function from day one. This one does!

I’m partnering with a developer and operator of renewables and battery storage. They’re launching a new German entity in Hamburg and need a technical leader to take on a statutory Managing Director (Geschäftsführer) appointment. Their German portfolio already stands at around 13.2 GWh of BESS and is growing.


What you’ll own

  • Overall technical direction, performance and profitability, from development to operation.
  • Company strategy, business plan and governance, alongside the MD and the Board.
  • Final sign-off on HV/MV grid connection concepts, designs and specifications.
  • Strategic relationships with grid operators, authorities, EPCs and manufacturers.
  • Building and leading the technical team, with full people and budget responsibility.


What you’ll bring

  • An engineering degree (Electrical, Energy or similar).
  • Senior technical leadership in renewables, BESS or grid, ideally at Head of, Director or MD level.
  • Deep grid integration knowledge and decision-maker level experience with grid operators.
  • P&L or budget responsibility and a commercial, entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Excellent German and English.


Why it stands out: You’d have real ownership and direct access to the shareholder and the Board. There’s room to grow into PV, hybrid and hydrogen, and the package is at MD level with fixed and variable components.
