OVERVIEW OF POSITION

ECC seeks a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team, which has grown exponentially in the past 24 months, as the Director of Operations. The Director of Operations plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of ECC, building a collaborative, supportive and equitable team culture, and helping ECC live its values and achieve its mission. The Director of Operations works closely with the Regional and National Directors to plan, develop, and implement operational strategic optimization initiatives.

This is an opportunity for you to use your expertise in operations, people management, and culture building to shape an impact-oriented climate justice organization. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with climate justice, economic inclusion, clean energy, and racial justice, as well as policy and implementation experience, management expertise, and proficiency with the practices, policies, and procedures of nonprofit organizations.

Location: Hybrid remote. Must be available for regular in-person visits to Washington, DC office.

Salary: $125,000-$140,000

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations and Administration Serves as point person for all administrative functions of the organization including supply management, travel logistics, IT, office space and lease issues, all utility and vendor needs including phone, internet, and software vendors. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, ensuring effective coordination across regional and national teams.Ensure compliance with national and local business regulations, and take appropriate action when necessary

People & Culture Plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate human resources policies and activities ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organizations mission and talent strategy, in coordination with the Human Resources and Operations Manager. Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and systems to enhance equity, transparency, accountability, staff retention, and to effectively achieve our mission. Work with organizational leaders to hire key roles, supervise, and mentor staff, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment. Serve as a primary driver of team culture improvements, actively promoting equity and diversity within the team. Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention

Technology Oversee technology, systems, and hardware, guiding the Operations staff in decision making, maintenance, and training plans to ensure our team has all the necessary tools to win. Help lead the transition to Salesforce and its integration with programmatic and financial operations, and evaluate database needs and systems going forward. Ensure confidentiality of all data, contacts, and lists owned by ECC. Provide support and training to select staff within ECC on Salesforce tools, features, processes, and guidelines.

Communications
Supervise the Eco Communicator on communications and event planning and implementation, including website development and updates, email marketing, internal communications, social media strategy, and outreach targeting the ECC messages to current and potential supporters.

Thought Leadership Be an active contributor of thought leadership and organizational leadership, bringing innovative ideas, insights, and strategies to our overall approach to operations; organizational systems, processes and tools; people management; and team culture.Translate strategy into actionable steps for growth, implementing organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five or more years of experience in executive and senior leadership roles
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
  • Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues
  • Solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics
  • Experience managing individuals and teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write and speak about complex issues in a compelling manner.
  • Five or more years of experience as a Salesforce Administrator to maintain system upgrades and changes as needed.
  • Experienced end-user of Microsoft products, with three or more years of experience as a SharePoint Administrator.
  • Substantial interest, confidence, and ability to build stakeholder relationships.
  • Motivated by the organization’s issues and solid mission-driven work ethic.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and experience with justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion policies and practices and employment of these values.
  • Comfortable with self-reflection, willing to learn, and capable of honestly working through conflict.
  • Demonstrated track record of working well in a diverse team environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work well in a fast-paced environment.
