Position Overview

We are looking for a creative, motivated, and enthusiastic Social Media and Content Officer to help strengthen our online presence and engage a wider audience.

The successful candidate will support the planning, creation, and management of digital content that promotes environmental awareness, showcases our projects, and grows our online community.


Key Responsibilities


  • Create, edit, and publish engaging and educational content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other relevant platforms using Canva and other design tools.
  • Produce and edit short-form videos (such as Reels, Shorts, and other vertical video content) to increase audience engagement and reach.
  • Develop and implement social media strategies aligned with the NGO's mission, campaigns, and communication goals.
  • Plan, organise, and maintain an editorial content calendar focused on environmental protection and sustainability.
  • Monitor social media performance and analyze key metrics to improve content effectiveness.
  • Engage with our online community by responding to comments and messages in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with volunteers across different departments to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
  • Support the promotion of campaigns and events through organic and paid social media activities when appropriate.
  • Help amplify the NGO's visibility by sharing and promoting our social media content across relevant online communities, groups, networks, and personal/professional channels to reach wider audiences.
  • Stay up to date with current social media trends, platform updates, and best practices to continuously improve our digital communication.


Requirements

  • Degree (or current studies) in Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • At least one year of experience in social media management and content creation (internship experience is also valued).
  • Experience creating engaging visual and written content.
  • Knowledge of Canva and basic video editing software.
  • Experience producing short-form video content for social media is an advantage.
  • Good understanding of the main social media platforms and their best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Creativity, initiative, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Passion for environmental protection, sustainability, and climate action.

Terms and Conditions

This position is to join our volunteer team; therefore, it is not a paid position. Our volunteers are expected to commit to working remotely for 2 hours daily from Monday to Friday, with occasional visits during events. Ideally, our organization seeks volunteers who wish to become part of it long-term; however, applications for unpaid internships are also welcome. Please indicate in your cover letter which option suits you best.

The minimum duration for both internships and volunteer work is 6 months.
