Initially reporting to the Vice President, Customer Experience, the Conservation & Demand Management Advisor participates in the development and implementation of plans to promote and market the availability of the Independent Electricity System Operator’s (IESO) electricity demand-side management (eDSM) programs to Elexicon Energy’s customers.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Lead or assist with development and implementation of Elexicon’s eDSM action plan to promote eDSM program availability.
  • In conjunction with Stakeholder Relations, develop and execute multi-channel engagement and outreach campaigns to raise awareness of program availability with customers.
  • Coordinate subject-matter workshops and facilitate community education events.
  • Maintain records of activities and funds and report monthly to the IESO.
  • Help identify Elexicon customer needs and, where appropriate, provide guidance to customers on eDSM applications to the IESO.
  • Participate in various external industry, community, and customer organizations to support the general goals of the position.
  • Willingness to work outside of standard business hours, as required.
  • Act as a central resource for customer questions on eDSM.
  • Track and report on program KPIs and budgets as well as historical trends.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external partners, cross-functional colleagues and leadership team to align on shared goals and strategies.
  • Distill complex ideas into simple, compelling content to inform, influence and engage the intended audience.
  • Identify key stakeholders; develop and maintain effective and strategic relationships with targeted customer segments (e.g. smaller commercial).
  • Utilize strong writing, research and analytical skills including experience applying research to conservation and demand management.
  • Prepare a wide variety of written documents and communication pieces including consultation plans to keep key stakeholders well informed.
  • Develop supporting documents and materials for discussions and presentations with key audiences.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest best practices in the field of conservation and demand management and specifically IESO programs and targets.
  • Other duties as required may be considered part of these responsibilities.

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills with well-established stakeholder management skills.
  • Enthusiastic ‘can do’ attitude, always ready to work proactively and collaboratively as a team.
  • Understands the attitudes and needs of customers related to energy conservation in an industry with a high degree of scrutiny and in a public service environment.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships with internal colleagues and external customers.
  • Strong digital skills and acumen required.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects including planning and stakeholder coordination
  • Highly organized and capable of multi-tasking in a deadline driven environment.
  • Class “G” driver’s licence
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams).

Minimum Requirements

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in the Ontario energy industry (electricity desirable) in positions related to customer engagement, climate action or conservation programs
  • University and/or College degree in environmental science, conservation, communications, or public relations and a minimum of 3+ years of progressive conservation marketing or program experience in a regulated environment would be preferable.

Compensation Package

$82,712.00 - $103,390.00 CAD annually + OMERS Pension Plan

The above range reflects the reasonable estimate for the position at the time of posting. Within the range, hiring compensation will be determined based on relevant qualifications, experience, skillset, education/ training, and other organizational needs.
