This is an excellent opportunity to develop a wide range of skills, whilst also learning about the energy industry in a period of significant regulatory change. If you’re interested in the energy industry, have great interpersonal skills and are detail-oriented, then we’d love to hear from you.

ElectraLink provides the Data Transfer Service (DTS) to energy market participants, which sends industry data flows through a trusted, central system. ElectraLink also runs the Distribution, Connection and Use of System Agreement (DCUSA) code. ElectraLink also develops APIs, creates energy data insights and contributes to projects for a changing energy system.

The GB energy industry is going through unprecedented change as it moves to a net zero power system by 2030 and a net zero economy by 2050. Data and digitisation is becoming increasingly important to support this transition, with market participants and the regulator looking to make more use of data and make more data available.

The purpose of this role is to support the Industry Engagement Leads by monitoring and analysing industry change with a focus on the industry code and regulatory policy space. This is predominantly an external-facing role including attendance at industry meetings and workgroups.

The primary purpose of the role is to identify new not-for-profit services that ElectraLink could deliver; however, the role will also support the expansion of commercial and existing Cost Recovery Services.

What you will do:

  • Help to maintain an industry change and policy prioritisation matrix
  • Monitoring, analysing and prioritisation of energy industry code changes (eg: BSC, REC, CUSC and SEC) to identify opportunities or impacts on ElectraLink
  • Work and co-ordinate with different teams within ElectraLink to understand impacts, views and position on industry code/policy changes
  • Attend and provide input to internal work groups
  • Consider new opportunities for ElectraLink either on a not-for-profit or commercial basis, and help to progress these through internal processes.
  • Attend industry workgroups, forums and meetings as required and present ElectraLink’s views and positions.

Your typical week will involve:

Day 1: Review industry code or policy changes with Industry Engagement Lead – focusing on new changes and developments from the previous week. Update prioritisation matrix or create consultation summaries where required.

Day 2: Attend external industry meeting and produce a short Day After Report highlighting key issues or impacts for ElectraLink.

Day 3: Weekly catch ups with Industry Engagement Lead and Director of New Markets and Growth / Attendance at internal Forums to agree views and positions on specific changes.
