Role Description The Volunteer Climate Career Mentor will support individuals exploring or developing careers in climate action and sustainability. This role, based in Kampala, involves mentoring students and early-career professionals, guiding them on climate-related career paths, and connecting them with learning and networking opportunities. The Mentor will facilitate small group sessions, workshops, and one-on-one conversations to discuss skills development, green job opportunities, and emerging trends in climate innovation. They will collaborate with Greenlyf Foundation staff to design practical career resources, share insights from the climate sector, and help participants align their aspirations with real-world opportunities. This is a volunteer role focused on community impact and professional support rather than financial compensation.

Qualifications

• Background or strong interest in climate action, environmental sustainability, or related fields, with awareness of green jobs and Net Zero pathways.
• Ability to mentor, coach, or guide students and early-career professionals, including strong listening, empathy, and goal-setting skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex climate concepts in accessible language.
• Experience facilitating workshops, trainings, or group discussions, or a willingness to learn and practice facilitation skills.
• Comfort working on-site in Kampala, collaborating with diverse community members and organizational staff.
• Organizational and time-management skills to plan sessions, follow up with mentees, and document progress.
• Previous volunteering, community engagement, or educational outreach experience is an added advantage.
• Relevant academic background (e.g., environmental studies, climate science, sustainability, social sciences) is beneficial but not mandatory.
