The Team
The Group Regulation Team is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic approach to regulatory matters which align with the ambitions of the Group, and has a pivotal role to play in supporting the delivery of EirGrid Groups’ Corporate Strategy in Ireland and in the evolving European energy landscape, including the energy transition, offshore development and European matters including future interconnection. This includes management and development of regulatory relationships, development of regulatory arrangements, revenue frameworks and price controls, formulation of Group Regulation Policy, management of the Customer Charging process for connecting parties in Ireland, and oversight of regulatory compliance and all relevant licensing, regulatory authorisations and consents.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Commercial Analyst, you will have a strong role in determining connection charges for customers connecting to Ireland’s Transmission System, and supporting other charging, revenue and commercial related activities, working within a high profile team, and with senior personnel across the organisation covering a variety of disciplines.
Connections charges are a critical component of a customer’s plans to connect to the power system, and providing quality connection offers to customers is an essential service provided by EirGrid. The work undertaken will therefore have significant customer impact and will be important in enabling the decarbonisation journey and helping deliver on EirGrid’s purpose to transform the power system.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver on the specific customer charging requirements that are necessary to successfully deliver company and stakeholder objectives.
- Perform a leading role in the development of EirGrid’s Connection Charging policy and methodology including preparation of reasoned opinions and positions.
- Calculate individual customer connection charges for connection to the transmission system.
- Use internal technical reports, previous cases database and published transmission connection charging policy as a basis for calculating charges while applying broader relevant expertise to complex cases.
- Assist in the development of EirGrid’s Connection Charging policy and methodology including preparation of reasoned opinions and positions.
- Assist in carrying out EirGrid’s regulation function that includes, regulatory reporting, running public consultations and preparing recommendations for Commission for Regulation of Utilities approval.
- Support the Group Head of Regulation and Team Leads in relation to strategic regulatory projects
- Have a degree or other recognised qualification in business, economics, engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role, in a multidisciplinary environment.
- High degree of proficiency in MS Excel.
- Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical abilities, coupled with the ability to make reasoned judgements based on available information.
- Ability to draft documentation in a rational, evidence-based, clear, and concise manner.
- High level of attention to detail and pride in one’s own work.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including report writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, while also being able to define and guide work under minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated flexible working approach with ability to prioritise a wide range of demands and activities whilst maintaining a professional and positive focus.
- Experience of researching/drafting policy papers independently and as part of a team for publication.
- Willing to independently diversify knowledge base to appreciate wider legal/technical/economic aspects to decisions.
- Knowledge of and experience of working in a regulated utility/ regulator is desirable.
