The Opportunity
The Chief Corporate Services Office in EirGrid ensures that the highest standards of excellence are maintained in the delivery of the group strategy. The Customer and Stakeholder Engagement team is responsible for managing customer and stakeholder priorities matching business goals and amplifying positive stakeholder and customer opportunities with appropriate engagement and communications solutions.
The role of Public Affairs Manager is reflective of the increased responsibility, capacity and capability required to deliver on our ambitious and innovative programme of communication and EirGrid’s unique position as a commercial semi-state body with a single Ministerial shareholder.
The successful candidate will be tasked with the design, development and delivery of strategic plans and activities for government officials and elected representatives on a regional, national and European level to drive awareness and inform positions.
The role holder will work closely with the wider Corporate Services Directorate and actively cooperate with a range of subject matter experts in EirGrid Group.
The role reports to the Head of Customer and Stakeholder Engagement, who reports to the Director of Corporate Services.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and deliver strategic plans to oversee engagement for national, regional and European elected representatives to drive awareness and inform positions aligned with organisational objectives
- Build and maintain relationships with key government officials and decision makers
- Co-ordinate support for attendance at required departmental meetings manage reporting
- Monitor legislation and other activities and co-ordinate requests for information and data from government and elected officials
- Identify opportunities for engagement on key issues
- Represent organisation at events and meetings
- Prepare briefing materials
- Collaborate with Strategic Comms, Stakeholder and Strategy teams to develop and ensure consistency of messaging and effective reputation management
- Monitor and evaluate engagement initiatives
- Prepare and present reporting to senior management
- Manage team
- Manage tenders and suppliers
- 7+ years of experience in public affairs
- Proven ability to deliver on public affairs activities to increase impact
- Strong experience of working in or engaging with the Irish and European political systems
- Familiarity Irish energy / utility / infrastructure delivery stakeholder environment
- Experience in content management systems
- Strong project management skills
- Experience in driving research and conducting analysis
- Experience in presenting and reporting
- Experience of writing about technical subjects in easy-to-grasp language.
- Comfortable working to tight deadlines
- Eagerness to understand our organisation and our role in ensuring Ireland’s continued electricity supply and advancing climate change policy and implement this understanding in copy.
- A professional attitude with a proven ability to work within a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
