The Opportunity

The Programme Manager will support the Head of Function by managing a team of Project Managers in the Connection Projects team to help manage delivery of key infrastructure projects for some of the biggest companies in the world. These customers are critical to Ireland from many aspects including the achievement of our renewable targets and to continuation of sustainable economic growth for the country.

The role involves managing the facilitation of the connection of new generation, demand and interconnection customers to the transmission system. It involves the project management of technically complex, large scale infrastructure projects – on-time and within budget, adhering to established governance and controls. The role holder will manage a team working on projects across their entire life cycle – from project initiation, through construction and commissioning and right up to project close.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract role.

The role is based in Dublin.

The Team

The Infrastructure office within EirGrid comprises highly skilled professionals with backgrounds in engineering and business/commerce. The Infrastructure Office is responsible for leading the development and delivery of the power system and interconnection investment programmes, in collaboration with partners, customers & communities.

The Connection Projects team is responsible for the delivery of electricity generation, demand, and interconnection customer connections to the transmission system. This includes the delivery of transmission works for power generation and demand customer connections at distribution voltage levels.

About You

Successful candidates will have:

  • University degree in engineering or other equivalent degree, typically with 10+ years post-qualification, relevant experience.
  • Certified Programme Manager with proven Programme Management experience.
  • Knowledge of energy sector and infrastructure delivery.
  • Successful experience in managing transformational change in a large or complex organisation.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic planning and execution skills.
  • Extensive experience in structuring and executing complex projects as a project manager.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to develop and communicate the programme objectives, inspire, and motivate staff, and maintain alignment with the business strategy.
  • Ability to develop programmes and deliver them with financial and resource constraints and to ability to manage risk across the programme and develop the necessary mitigations.
