The Opportunity

We are now seeking a Head of Offshore Delivery - South Coast to join the Chief Transformation, Technology & Offshore Office.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Transformation, Technology & Offshore Officer and be a member of EirGrid’s extended leadership team.

As Head of Offshore Delivery - South Coast, you will play a critical role in ensuring that the programme for the South Coast is delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with the CRU’s Offshore Revenue Model and regulatory expectations.

You will also play a key role in shaping the future of Ireland’s offshore grid infrastructure and enabling the next wave of offshore wind development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of the South Coast offshore grid infrastructure programme (
  • Direct Reports: Cross-functional project leads (engineering, procurement, planning, stakeholder engagement)
  • Key Stakeholders: CRU, DCEE, MARA, offshore wind developers, local authorities, vendor partners, internal transformation teams
  • Collaboration with other Heads of function and team members across the EirGrid Group.
  • Oversee the development and execution of procurement strategies for key infrastructure packages including:
    • Offshore substations and jackets
    • Export cables
    • Onshore substations and civil works
    • High-voltage equipment and systems
  • Manage the interface with the Maritime Area Regulatory Authority (MARA) and ensure timely acquisition of the Marine Usage Licence (MUL) to enable marine surveys and construction
  • Ensure robust programme governance, risk management, and reporting in line with the CRU’s Offshore Revenue Model.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, legal, finance, procurement, IT) and external stakeholders (CRU, DCEE, developers, local authorities) to ensure alignment and transparency.
  • Lead the development and publication of Grid Connection Information (GCI) packs and support the auction process
The Team

The Chief Technology and Transformation and Offshore Office is responsible for driving the Offshore Grid programme, driving innovation, digital transformation, and strategic technology delivery across EirGrid. It plays a central role in enabling the organisation to meet its decarbonisation and infrastructure goals through the deployment of modern systems, data intelligence, and programme governance frameworks.

The Offshore Delivery – South Coast Team is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of offshore grid infrastructure for the South Coast of Ireland. This includes overseeing the planning, procurement, design, and construction of the transmission system required to connect offshore wind from the South Coast Designated Maritime Area Plan (SC-DMAP) to the national grid.

About You

Successful candidates will have:

  • Proven experience in leading large-scale offshore infrastructure or transmission projects, ideally in energy, utilities, or regulated sectors.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, particularly in capital programme governance and revenue models.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex programme interdependencies and critical path planning.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement with government, regulators, and industry partners.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
  • Familiarity with risk management, procurement, and operational readiness in a regulated environment.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and external consultants.
  • Financial acumen, including budget oversight and funding strategy alignment.
