The Opportunity
As a Graduate Sustainability Consultant, you will have the opportunity to learn and grow within a collaborative and experienced ESD consultancy in Australia. You will be part of Efficient Living’s ESD Consulting team, supporting exceptional project delivery and contributing to profitable, high-quality outcomes across a diverse portfolio of projects.
In this role, you will assist senior team members in the delivery of sustainability assessments and building certifications, including Green Star, NABERS, WELL, Passive House, and net-zero strategies. You will also gain hands-on experience delivering NatHERS assessments, NCC energy efficiency compliance, and BASIX assessments, developing a strong technical foundation in residential and non-residential sustainability compliance pathways.
Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to develop and refine your technical skills in daylight analysis, solar access studies, and/or building services engineering, depending on your background, interests, and career aspirations.
Essential criteria to fulfill this role:
- Graduated within the last 2 years (or graduating soon) with a degree in Sustainable Design, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
- A passion and aptitude for sustainable and regenerative design
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with sustainability rating tools and energy modelling software (IES, Grasshopper, HERO) is an advantage.
- A problem solver, with the ability to learn quickly and work collaboratively.
- Full working rights to work in Australia.
Capacity: Full time (preferred) or part time

- Curious and solutions-focused, with a willingness to think creatively and engage with complex sustainability and climate-related challenges.
- Eager to learn, develop technical skills, and apply sustainability principles in real-world consulting projects under guidance from senior team members.
- A clear and confident written and verbal communicator, able to deliver well-structured reports and presentations and explaining sustainability outcomes to a range of stakeholders.
- Highly organised and self-motivated, with a strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- A positive force and a collaborative team member that contributes to the Efficient Living culture and supports the success of the wider team.
- Someone who enjoys working independently but also values being part of a small team
- Availability to work in our Northern Beaches office.
