We are looking for a motivated Building Automation Systems (BAS) Engineer to join our client's growing team in Ashburn, VA. This position is ideal for an engineer with approximately 2 years of experience in HVAC controls or building automation who is eager to grow their technical skills and work on exciting commercial and mission-critical projects.

The BAS Engineer will support the design, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting of building automation systems while collaborating with project managers, senior engineers, and field technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and implementation of BAS and HVAC controls systems
  • Develop control drawings, points lists, and project documentation
  • Support BAS programming, graphics creation, and system integration
  • Participate in startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams during project execution
  • Review project plans and specifications to ensure system compliance
  • Help maintain project schedules, documentation, and customer communication
  • Provide technical support to field technicians and customers as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical training in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, HVAC, Controls, or related field preferred
  • Approximately 2 years of experience in Building Automation Systems, HVAC controls, or related industry
  • Basic understanding of HVAC systems and automatic controls
  • Familiarity with BAS platforms such as Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Trane, or Niagara-based systems
  • Knowledge of BACnet or other building systems communication protocols is a plus
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and organizational abilities
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the BAS industry
