Help shape the future of product sustainability

At Edge Impact, we believe better decisions start with better evidence. We're looking for an experienced sustainability leader to help organisations understand and reduce the environmental impacts of their products, materials and value chains. You'll lead and deliver high-quality life cycle assessment (LCA), environmental product declaration (EPD) and product sustainability projects, working with clients across the built environment, manufacturing, consumer goods and other industries. This is an opportunity to combine deep technical expertise with commercial thinking and client advisory, helping clients turn robust environmental data into practical decisions that deliver meaningful impact.

About the role

As a Managing Principal or Principal (based on experience), you'll play a senior role in shaping our technical capability, growing client relationships and developing our people.

You'll have the opportunity to

  • Lead complex LCA, product carbon footprint and EPD engagements, from scope development through to delivery and verification
  • Design appropriate methodologies, system boundaries, functional units, allocation approaches, data strategies and impact assessment methods
  • Develop and review life cycle inventory models using primary and secondary data
  • Interpret results, undertake sensitivity and uncertainty analysis, and identify material impact drivers and improvement opportunities
  • Direct the preparation of ISO-aligned LCA studies, product carbon footprints, EPDs and supporting technical documentation
  • Manage independent critical review and EPD verification processes, including responses to reviewer and verifier feedback
  • Advise clients on embodied carbon, circularity, sustainable materials and opportunities to reduce environmental impacts
  • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, translating technical findings into clear, commercially relevant advice
  • Help grow our Life Cycle Thinking services, identifying new opportunities, shaping innovative offerings and contributing to business development
  • Mentor and support talented consultants, fostering collaboration, technical excellence and professional growth
  • Influence the direction of our practice, including how we embrace new technologies and evolving market needs

About you

You're an experienced sustainability professional with a strong technical foundation in LCA and product sustainability, and the confidence to lead complex projects and advise senior clients.

You'll bring

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science, engineering, sustainability, chemistry, materials science, industrial ecology or a related discipline
  • Substantial experience in LCA, EPDs and quantitative product sustainability assessments
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 14040/14044 and experience with recognised LCA software such as SimaPro, Sphera/GaBi, openLCA or One Click LCA
  • Proven consulting, project leadership and client relationship management experience
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in growing services and developing new opportunities
  • A collaborative leadership style and a commitment to helping others grow
  • Experience with EPD verification, embodied carbon, circular economy or emerging product sustainability methodologies would be highly regarded

Location

Flexible (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Auckland or remote within Australia/New Zealand); UK and European locations also considered
