Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end carbon project development in the Philippines, from project identification and feasibility assessment through validation, registration, verification, issuance and monetisation of carbon credits.
  • Identify and evaluate potential carbon projects across sectors such as agriculture, forestry and land use (AFOLU), renewable energy, waste management, clean cooking, energy efficiency, blue carbon, industrial decarbonisation and carbon removals.
  • Assess project eligibility and identify suitable methodologies under international standards such as Verra VCS, Gold Standard, Global Carbon Council (GCC) and other recognised carbon-crediting programmes.
  • Monitor developments in the Philippines relating to carbon markets, climate policy, Article 6 implementation, NDC commitments and government requirements for international transfer of mitigation outcomes.
  • Support projects seeking participation under Paris Agreement Article 6.2/6.4 and CORSIA, including assessment of host-country authorisation and corresponding-adjustment requirements where applicable.
  • Prepare and review PDDs, feasibility studies, baseline assessments, additionality assessments, monitoring plans, emission-reduction calculations and supporting technical documentation.
  • Coordinate MRV and digital MRV (dMRV) activities and work with project owners and technology teams to establish reliable systems for data collection, monitoring, traceability and reporting.
  • Support development of agriculture-based carbon programmes, including projects involving rice cultivation, regenerative agriculture, methane reduction, sustainable farming and programmes involving farmer cooperatives and associations.
  • Evaluate opportunities in nature-based solutions, including forestry, mangrove restoration, blue carbon and other land-use projects relevant to the Philippines.
  • Liaise with relevant Philippine government agencies, local government units (LGUs), project developers, corporates, farmer organisations, VVBs, registries and other stakeholders for project development and implementation.
  • Conduct project due diligence covering methodology applicability, baseline, additionality, leakage, permanence, environmental integrity, safeguards, regulatory requirements and expected carbon-credit generation.
  • Develop carbon-credit projections covering expected tCO₂e reductions/removals, crediting periods, issuance schedules, project costs, carbon prices and potential carbon revenues.
  • Support commercial structuring, including carbon-credit offtake agreements, forward purchase arrangements, revenue-sharing structures and climate/project-financing models.
  • Coordinate with carbon registries, validation and verification bodies and other third parties throughout the validation, registration, monitoring, verification and issuance process.
  • Engage with corporates, agricultural organisations, cooperatives, government institutions, project developers, investors and potential carbon-credit buyers to develop scalable carbon programmes.
  • Coordinate internally with technical, commercial, legal and finance teams on NDAs, MoUs, project agreements, term sheets, proposals and other project documentation.
  • Maintain a comprehensive Philippines carbon-project pipeline, tracking methodology, project stage, expected credit volumes, validation/verification status, issuance timelines, commercial discussions and outstanding actions.
  • Prepare concept notes, feasibility reports, technical presentations, financial assessments, project proposals and management updates for government stakeholders, clients, investors and senior management.
  • Represent the organisation in meetings and workshops with government agencies, private-sector partners, carbon-market stakeholders, project owners and international organisations.


Candidate Profile

  • 5–6 years of relevant experience in carbon markets, climate change, sustainability, GHG accounting, carbon project development, ESG or climate finance, preferably with experience in the Philippines or Southeast Asia.
  • Strong understanding of GHG accounting, MRV/dMRV, carbon methodologies and the complete carbon-project lifecycle.
  • Practical experience with standards such as Verra VCS, Gold Standard, GCC or similar recognised carbon standards.
  • Good understanding of the Paris Agreement, Article 6, NDCs, corresponding adjustments and CORSIA.
  • Experience working with government agencies, LGUs, corporates, agricultural organisations, project developers and international stakeholders would be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, including experience with emission-reduction calculations, project datasets and financial models.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare technical documentation and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple carbon projects while coordinating across technical, commercial, government and international teams.
