Fundraiser for climate action charity - Volunteer

Apply now
We’re a grassroots charity tackling the climate crisis with Carbon Accounts — making CO₂ visible, accountable, and fair. Help us grow a local movement and inspire national change, while getting involved in all facets of our activities as part of a fundraising team.

What difference will you make?

You’ll be key to turning EcoCounts’ vision into action. By helping us secure resources, you’ll enable our Carbon Accounts framework to grow – a system that makes CO₂ emissions personal, visible and manageable for individuals, communities and organisations.

Your impact will be felt in several ways

  • Enabling local action Funding workshops, meet-ups and carbon budgeting tools that empower communities.
  • Building a national model Supporting pilots that could influence policy with tested, evidence-based approaches.
  • Attracting allies A strong fundraising plan builds credibility and draws in partners and funders.

This role goes beyond raising funds – it’s about helping shift the climate story from despair to empowerment, proving that collective action can drive a fair and science-based transition.

What are we looking for?

The climate crisis isn’t being solved by business as usual — so we need people who think differently. If you’ve already done fundraising that starts with a bold idea and distils it into a winning workstream, that’s fantastic. If not, but you’re eager to learn, we’ll work with you to build the skills and insight, whether you're a fundraising beginner, a graduate wanting to broaden your skills, or a retiree looking to give back.

We seek individuals who are

  • Curious about how funders think
  • Creative in shaping messages that resonate
  • Persistent in research, outreach, and relationship-building
  • Experience in fundraising is a plus, but not essential. We will work with you to build the skills and insight needed to succeed, starting with small, manageable tasks and progressing as your confidence grows
  • Any transferable skills

Practical skills that help include

  • Research and writing
  • Communications and storytelling
  • Organisation and attention to detail

As we grow from start-up to established charity, committed volunteers may also consider stepping into longer-term roles, including trusteeship.

What will you be doing?

We’re building a volunteer team to secure funding for our plans for 2026 and beyond. We've spent the last six months solidifying our governance structure and creating a strategy and plans to enact our mission. The more funding we can attract for it, the faster we'll have see some impact. We do

  • Research potential funders, put together supporting material and draft applications
  • Crowdfunding
  • Build up online subscription donors via website
  • Help organise fundraising events
  • Liaise with or contribute to our social media program
  • Contribute ideas to strengthen our fundraising strategy
