NbS Geospatial Specialist

Application Form: https://forms.gle/CH4xUAtu9iXhgRy18

Earthshot is a climate tech company. We build the financial and technical infrastructure to create, finance, and manage nature-based carbon projects at scale. Our work spans carbon compliance services, project finance, and the technology that makes it all move faster. If reforestation and conservation are going to happen at the speed the planet needs, the underlying systems have to work. That’s what we’re building.

Here are a few highlights we’re excited about:

  • Product: LandOS is shipping fast. We're now at v3.5+, with REDD+ prefeasibility, AI-assisted land-cover mapping, natural-risk modeling, and a new Pro tier launched in early 2026. Project developers around the world are using it to go from site analysis to investment-ready carbon projects in a fraction of the time.
  • Traction: On track for $3.5M+ in revenue in 2026, with active deals spanning major global asset managers, corporate sustainability buyers, and conservation organizations across multiple continents. Our pipeline includes some of the most significant carbon investors in the world.
  • Market moment: The politics around climate are complicated right now, but the underlying pressure keeps compounding. We're building the financial and technical infrastructure to deploy capital into nature at scale, and 2026 is the year we prove it out.

The Role: NbS Geospatial Specialist

At Earthshot Labs, the NbS Geospatial Specialist sits at the heart of everything we do: translating satellite imagery, remote sensing data, and carbon methodology requirements into spatial analyses that underpin project design and guide land-use decisions.

You’ll work across a dynamic portfolio of ARR, REDD+, IFM, and other projects spanning Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia, and North America, producing land eligibility assessments, forest cover change analyses, and maps that directly inform project design, client decisions, and certification compliance.

This role offers a rare opportunity to apply GIS and remote sensing skills in direct service of nature, with your Python scripts and Google Earth Engine workflows feeding into LandOS, our flagship platform for next-generation carbon analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct land eligibility, forest cover change, and related geospatial analyses across ARR, REDD+, IFM, and other NbS projects—from feasibility through validation and verification—in compliance with major certification standards (Verra, Gold Standard, Isometric, etc.).
  • Perform spatial analyses in GEE, Python, and QGIS, including supervised land cover classification and accuracy assessments, using optical and SAR imagery (Landsat, Sentinel, PALSAR).
  • Evaluate client-provided shapefiles and spatial datasets for quality, completeness, and fitness for carbon methodology requirements.
  • Produce client-ready maps, land cover and eligibility shapefiles, and presentations that clearly communicate spatial findings to non-GIS audiences.
  • Build, refactor, and document scalable, reusable workflows in Python and Google Earth Engine (GEE) for spatial analysis including land classification, eligibility analyses, and biomass estimation that reduce manual effort and can be integrated into or validated against LandOS.
  • Collaborate with science and tech teams on LandOS development—testing features before release, flagging bugs, and defining land cover classification schemas that reflect real-world project needs.

Skills and qualities for the role

  • An undergraduate degree in geography, environmental sciences, biology, ecology, environmental engineering, or a related field
  • Proficiency with GIS software (ArcGIS or QGIS)
  • Experience with coding, particularly Python and GEE
  • Experience tracking and quantifying land use and forest cover changes, including land cover classification
  • Comfort working with incomplete or ambiguous spatial data and making defensible methodological decisions
  • Ability to manage deliverables across multiple concurrent projects under tight timelines
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, demonstrated through past projects or presentations
  • Comfort interacting with and supporting cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Eagerness to learn and tackle complex, new challenges
  • A deep love for nature and a desire to help build a more integrated future for humanity within it

The most competitive candidates will have:

  • Experience applying carbon methodologies
  • Experience conducting geospatial analyses in Google Earth Engine and Python
  • Experience with satellite remote sensing datasets, including multispectral, SAR, and LiDAR data (e.g., Landsat, Sentinel-2, PALSAR, Sentinel-1, GEDI)
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude) to accelerate code development and geospatial workflows
