About EarthEn Energy

EarthEn Energy is a climate-tech company developing advanced thermal energy storage solutions to help industries reduce energy costs and carbon emissions. Our heat battery stores energy from renewable electricity or waste heat and delivers reliable, on-demand industrial heat.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Process Simulation Engineer with hands-on experience in Modelica / OpenModelica to develop, simulate, and validate dynamic process models for thermal energy storage and industrial energy systems.

The candidate will work on developing mathematical and thermodynamic models of process equipment and systems, performing simulations, analysing results, and improving model accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement dynamic and steady-state process simulation models using Modelica / OpenModelica.
  • Build, modify, debug, and validate process and equipment models.
  • Model thermal systems, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, tanks, and other process equipment.
  • Perform heat and mass balance calculations and thermodynamic analysis.
  • Develop transient simulation models for thermal energy storage systems.
  • Analyse simulation results, identify performance gaps, and optimise system performance.
  • Validate simulation models using experimental data, plant data, or theoretical calculations.
  • Work with engineering teams to support process design and system development.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in process simulation, system modelling, or thermal engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with Modelica or OpenModelica is mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and process engineering.
  • Experience developing dynamic or transient simulation models.
  • Knowledge of heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, tanks, and other process equipment.
  • Experience with heat and mass balance calculations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.

Good to Have
  • Experience with Modelica Standard Library, ThermoPower, Modelica.Fluid, or similar libraries.
  • Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, or scripting for simulation and data analysis.
  • Experience with thermal energy storage, industrial heating systems, or energy systems.
  • Knowledge of model validation, sensitivity analysis, and control systems.
