You are a building science professional with great communication skills and an interest in home performance. You are an organized, analytical, inquisitive, and collaborative individual with a passion for energy efficiency and other sustainable building practices. You are excited by the idea of joining a nationally-recognized team responsible for implementing Home Energy Score programs.
- Provide Home Energy Score Quality Assurance Provider role for Earth Advantage with the Home Energy Score California program.
- Represent the Home Energy Score California program in the field, in written communication, and in regular meetings with program administrators. Conduct oneself with the utmost care and professionalism during assessments and in communication with assessors, residents, and program partners and administrators.
- Conduct both in-home and/or remote quality assurance assessments and Home Energy Scoring. Successfully complete assessments and all associated documentation, energy modeling, CRM data entry, and correspondence. Perform diagnostic testing as needed, including blower door testing.
- Review Home Energy Score assessments conducted by home energy assessors participating in the Home Energy Score California program. Achieve prompt turnaround time on Home Energy Score submittal reviews.
- Respond to assessor inquiries and provide feedback. This includes technical support and score incentive application questions.
- Provide QA/QC of program scoring activity and required energy modeling. Assist with refining Quality Assurance protocols, including with remote processes. Clearly communicate needed scoring corrections to the home energy assessor under review and ensure timely corrections.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and mentoring of new HES assessors.
- Provide information about relevant Home Energy Score California program requirements. Respond to changes in program requirements, as necessary.
- Prepare documentation and compile data for reports and tracking. Produce and/or review program activity reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Deep commitment to Earth Advantage’s mission.
- Minimum 3+ years of technical residential energy efficiency and/or home performance experience.
- Familiarity with residential energy modeling and comfortable working in software programs throughout an assessment or quality assurance process.
- Comfortable in confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces.
- Excellent communication skills both internally and with external parties. Experience and comfort managing professional communications and relationships with external parties, including through business-to-business and customer services.
- Self-directed.
- This position is based in Southern California. Candidate must reside there and have a valid driver's license, auto insurance, and vehicle.
- Availability to work occasional weekends or evenings.
- Occasionally carry and maneuver bulky field equipment that weighs 30-40lbs.
- Consistent access to sufficient internet bandwidth for participation in virtual meetings.
- Bachelor of Science degree.
- Authorized Home Energy Score Assessor.
- ECC Rater, BPI BA-T, BPI BA-P, or equivalent professional designation (current or lapsed). LEED for Homes Green Rater.
- At least two years of experience in the green building, energy efficiency, or weatherization industry.
- At least two years of experience delivering professional training.
$70,000 - $91,000 annual compensation.
Note: This range represents the compensation opportunity within this specific Earth Advantage job class. Compensation for new hires generally falls in the low to mid point of the pay range.
