About The Climate Finance Capacity Support Programme

DT Global delivers the Capacity Support Programme for MFAT. The scope of this programme is quite broad as its aim is to be responsive to the needs of Pacific Island countries. It includes providing personnel or training to assist with:

  • Delivering and reporting on the flexible finance provided by MFAT;
  • Developing/updating national climate change plans and reporting frameworks;
  • Developing an investment-ready pipeline of projects;
  • Delivering climate change priorities;
  • Improving climate finance reporting; and
  • Accessing a broader range of climate funding.

About The Role

The Energy Analyst and Statistician play a critical role in supporting Fiji’s transition toward a low-carbon and sustainable energy future. The position is responsible for the collection, verification, analysis, and dissemination of energy data across all sub-sectors to ensure accurate and timely energy statistics and balance. By maintaining a robust national energy database, the role enables the calculation of key performance indicators such as energy and carbon intensity, self-sufficiency, and energy balance, which are essential for monitoring progress and informing policy development.

Through rigorous data analysis and reporting, the Energy Analyst and Statistician provide evidence-based insights to guide government decision-making, identify priority areas for improvement, and support strategic planning and investment in renewable energy and energy efficiency initiatives. This position directly contributes to Fiji’s national objective of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, strengthening the foundation for data-driven energy governance and sustainable development.

About You

Essential Experience and Knowledge

  • Candidates should have Bachelor’s Degree with 8+years or Master’s Degree with 5+years of experience in energy economics, statistics, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in conducting assessments and developing strategies for energy sector data management.
  • Proven track record in working with government agencies, international organisations, or consulting firms on similar assignments.
  • Exceptional skills in designing and developing data systems, including developing databases, data sharing, data capture, data quality and validation documentation, data storage and visualisation.
  • Familiarity with international standards and best practices in energy statistics is highly desirable.
  • Sound understanding of international climate policies and agreements
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proven experience in working in a developing country context and preferably experience working in Pacific Island Countries and with Pacific Island Governments.
  • Exceptional oral and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to present in public and to senior-level stakeholders.


Desirable:

  • Proven ability to manage projects from inception to completion, including planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage resources efficiently.
