Program Background

Climate Resilient Communities (CRC) supports implementation of the Australian Government's climate change commitments under Australia's International Development Policy , in line with partner government priorities.

CRC supports the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to increase climate investments, drive climate integration, and better address climate change and disaster risk across Australia’s development portfolio.

CRC incentivises funding towards gender-responsive, inclusive climate and disaster resilience programming, particularly in the water, food, nature-based solutions, and energy sectors.

DFAT has engaged DT Global to support the implementation of CRC through a Support Unit.

The Role

The Climate Integration Adviser will be based at the Climate Integration and Water team (CIP) DFAT Canberra office and will provide and coordinate advice and guidance to DFAT to strengthen climate integration across Australia’s development portfolio.

About You

You are a passionate and proactive climate change champion at a mid-career stage, bringing both depth of expertise and a strong commitment to supporting others. You excel at translating climate knowledge into practical guidance, enabling colleagues in generalist roles to confidently integrate climate resilience considerations into their everyday work.

Embedded within the DFAT Climate Integration & Water section in Canberra, you will thrive as a connector, building strong relationships across DFAT teams, programs, and the CRC Support Unit. You are highly collaborative and possess outstanding stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, support, and align diverse groups toward shared climate objectives.

With prior experience working within or alongside government, you understand public sector processes and can navigate complex environments effectively. You are adaptable and perform well in fast-paced, evolving settings, demonstrating initiative, flexibility, and sound judgment.

Based in Canberra, or willing to relocate, you are motivated by impact and driven to embed climate resilience across programs through partnership, communication, and practical action.

This position is to be based in Canberra, Australia.

  • Candidates must hold Australian citizenship and have or be willing to obtain a baseline or higher security clearance.
