Environmental Specialist

The Environmental Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, supporting sustainability initiatives, and providing technical expertise on environmental protection practices.

This position involves monitoring environmental performance, conducting assessments, and working with internal teams, contractors, and regulators to minimize environmental risks while promoting responsible business practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor company operations and projects to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and assessments to identify potential environmental risks or areas for improvement.
• Prepare and maintain environmental permits, reports, and regulatory filings.
• Assist in developing, implementing, and improving environmental management systems.
• Provide guidance on waste management, pollution prevention, emissions control, and hazardous material handling.
• Track and report environmental performance metrics to management.
• Support sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency, water conservation, and carbon-reduction strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, or related field.
• Some experience in environmental compliance, permitting, or sustainability
• Knowledge of environmental regulations (EPA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, CERCLA, etc.).
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to prepare technical reports.

Preferred Skills

• Project management and cross-functional team coordination experience.

Work Environment

• Combination of office, remote and field-based work.
• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and industrial environments during fieldwork.
