Within the Community and Education team, you’ll play a hands-on role in bringing that mission to life at a local level. It’s a varied and people-focused role where no two days are the same. You’ll engage with schools, community groups and partners, deliver meaningful experiences, and help build the relationships that ensure Drax makes a positive and lasting impact in the communities around us.

About the role:
As part of the Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Team, the Community & Education Officer will;
- Design and deliver engaging educational outreach programmes, ensuring alignment with the national curriculum and high-quality learning outcomes
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with local schools, colleges, and community stakeholders to position Drax as a trusted education partner, and contribute to wider place-based initiatives and community priorities.
- Plan and deliver tours, outreach sessions, and community events (including at Skylark Nature Reserve), ensuring excellent visitor experiences and positive community engagement
- Identify and support the development of new community and education opportunities, responding to local needs and contributing to delivery of the Community Strategy and local community plans
- Act as a professional public representative of Drax, communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders and contributing to community forums and events
- Ensure all activities meet health, safety, and operational standards, including visitor briefings and correct use of PPE, and appropriate conduct when working with young or vulnerable groups
- Collaborate with the wider team to plan programmes, share updates, and continuously improve delivery in line with organisational strategy and curriculum developments
- Capture and report visitor data, feedback, and insights to support continuous improvement and accurate performance tracking and and inform future activity.
To be successful in this role you’ll ideally have…
- Experience in a public-facing or educational role, with delivery of outreach programmes
- Strong communicator and presenter, confident engaging diverse audiences including young people, community groups and professional stakeholders
- Good working knowledge of health and safety practices , with an understanding of safeguarding considerations when working with young people
- Passion for the energy sector, with awareness of environmental issues
- Collaborative and adaptable team player
- Professional, approachable, and reliable, committed to high standards and stakeholder experience
