Senior Sustainability and Environment Advisor
The opportunity
Downer is looking for an experienced Senior Environment and Sustainability Advisor to join the Goyder North Wind Farm Connection project.
Working as part of the project delivery team, you will help manage environmental and sustainability requirements across mobilisation and construction. You will provide practical advice, maintain compliance and work closely with project teams and stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be based in the Adelaide region or be willing to relocate for the position allowing them easy access to and from site in a FIFO/DIDO arrangement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating environmental approvals, permits and management plans
- Providing practical environmental advice to construction and project teams
- Completing site inspections, audits and environmental monitoring
- Managing compliance registers, reporting and project records
- Supporting environmental incident investigations and corrective actions
- Coordinating environmental consultants and monitoring subcontractor compliance
- Reviewing environmental data, including energy, emissions, waste and water
- Engaging with clients, regulators, landowners, Traditional Owners and community stakeholders
What we're looking for
You are an experienced environmental professional who can provide clear and practical advice in a major construction environment.
You will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, Sustainability or a related field
- Around seven or more years of environmental or sustainability experience
- Experience working on power, transmission, substation, renewable energy or similar major infrastructure projects
- Experience with environmental approvals, permits, management plans and compliance reporting
- Knowledge of construction environmental risks, including biodiversity, heritage, water, erosion, sediment, waste, noise, dust and rehabilitation
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and ISO 14001 aligned management systems
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- The ability to work effectively in a remote and fast paced construction environment
- A current driver licence and construction industry induction
ISO 14001 training, incident investigation training or infrastructure sustainability accreditation would be highly regarded.
