Job Description
Doral is seeking an Environmental Permitting Associate to join our growing team and help advance a national portfolio of renewable energy projects through environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance. Reporting to the VP of Environmental Permitting, this role will coordinate closely with Development, Engineering, Construction, Legal, external consultants, and regulatory agencies to identify environmental risks, manage permitting requirements, and support disciplined project execution.
Responsibilities
- Generate Critical Issues Analyses using the Transect software program, to identify environmental risks, constraints, and permitting considerations for prospective project locations.
- Summarize Critical Issues Analysis findings for internal development teams to support project screening, siting decisions, and early risk management.
- Prepare requests for proposals for third-party environmental consultants performing environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance-support tasks.
- Review consultant reports and deliverables for completeness, technical quality, regulatory relevance, and alignment with project development needs.
- Coordinate with development teams throughout the project lifecycle to manage environmental compliance issues efficiently and proactively elevate key risks.
- Prepare environmental training materials for Doral staff to strengthen awareness of permitting requirements, compliance obligations, and project-specific environmental considerations
Required Skills/Values
- Ability to work in the US without visa/Green Card sponsorship from Doral.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, Environmental Planning, or a related field.
- Approximately 2–5 years of relevant experience in environmental permitting, environmental consulting, renewable energy, infrastructure development, or a related field.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental permitting and regulatory processes.
- Experience supporting environmental reviews, permit applications, or environmental due diligence preferred.
- Renewable energy, utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, or other infrastructure development experience is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to review technical and regulatory information.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, consultants, regulatory agencies, and other external stakeholders.
- Ability to travel periodically to project sites, agency meetings, or other business-related locations as needed.
