About the role This position is reporting to the Facility (Plant) Manager, the Maintenance Manager, and is directly responsible for the personnel and activities of the maintenance department in Indianapolis, IN. The Maintenance Manager is cooperatively accountable with other management personnel for maintaining the continued operation of the facility in compliance with established safety, federal and state environmental regulations and procedures, maintenance schedules, output requirements, and contractual obligations. Position Responsibilities
- Prioritizes all maintenance and maintenance-related project activities to ensure optimal facility performance relative to available resources (personnel, finances, and allotted time).
- Manages the activities of the facilities maintenance department, ensuring the effective execution of the maintenance department's job responsibilities
- Supports and endorses the company Environmental, Health & Safety program and prioritize protecting all employees from accidents and incidents
- Directs the coordination of the facility maintenance department with operations, purchasing and engineering personnel in defining, assessing, analyzing, solving and repairing equipment and machinery
- Provides technical expertise and directs coordination of the department and support personnel in upgrading of equipment and development of systems and design changes for the enhancement of overall plant reliability, efficiency and economy
- Oversees the planning and assures coordination of all participating plant personnel and outside contractors in all major projects and scheduled plant outages
- Participates in budget development, manages, and controls maintenance expenditures, maintaining an active cost reduction program directed toward improved plant profitability
- Position involves substantial planning of activities along with developing documented reporting.
- Assures compliance with all government regulations, environmental standards and all plant safety procedures and programs
- Administers human resources within the department, participating in the recruitment and hiring of qualified personnel, completing annual performance/coaching reviews, assuring that all personnel are adequately trained, assessing each individual's performance on a regular basis, and ensuring that corrective actions procedures are followed when appropriate
- This position may involve some travel
- Well versed in the use of CMMS systems to manage maintenance activities
- Develop maintenance programs and scheduled to optimize use of staffing and effective completion of preventative maintenance.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Must possess a minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 8 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of industrial plant equipment and systems, material processing plant, diesel or metals processing experience preferred
- Strong organizational and technical writing ability for converting vendor manuals into plant-specific procedures, such as inspections and preventative maintenance
- Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skill
- Excellent computer skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, preferred
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb
- Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
- Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces
- Qualify to wear a full-face respirator
- Consistently work in various weather conditions
