Position Summary

The Counsel is an entry level role that will be a full-time employee and report to the General Counsel. This counsel will support the various legal needs of the organization. They will collaborate with and have exposure to all elements of a rapidly growing, dynamic corporate environment in the renewable energy industry. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and other documentation to support the business, including the development, construction, and financing of community solar projects.
  • Support compliance efforts, including compliance with contractual covenants and other legal requirements.
  • Maintain direct communication with clients and manage day-to-day transactional work.
  • Conduct legal due diligence and research and provide guidance on risk mitigation.

Though the position largely is focused on performing hands-on legal services for transactional matters, there may be some management of disputes and/or litigation with the support of external counsel.

Qualifications

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who wants to be a part of a fast-paced and fluid company poised for growth in one of the country’s most rapidly changing industries. This is a unique opportunity to learn, grow, and develop solar industry expertise within a small legal department and to be exposed to multiple areas within the company. This role requires attention to detail, flexibility, comfort with complexity and uncertainty, and a desire to learn new things. We have a high performance and strong customer service culture and are looking for someone with sound business judgment and an aptitude for problem-solving. The successful candidate must be collaborative and able to manage multiple and competing priorities and be open to learning.

At a minimum, the Project Finance Counsel must have all the following requirements:

  • JD degree, admission to and in good standing with a state bar (or state bar admission pending);
  • Zero to three (0-3) years minimum legal experience performing transactional legal work;
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in energy, environmental, or finance matters is preferred;
  • Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English, including strong contract-drafting skills; and
  • Proficiency in Word, Adobe, and PowerPoint.

Location

Atlanta, GA.

Our team works in the Atlanta office on Mondays-Thursdays and remotely on Fridays. This is not a remote-only position. Occasional travel may be required.
