The Opportunity
As our Senior Project Manager, you'll own the end-to-end delivery of large-scale capital projects that are pioneering commercial hydrogen applications. You'll lead multidisciplinary teams, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to exceptional quality standards. Your experience scaling projects from conception to commissioning will be instrumental as Teralta moves from demonstration to widespread commercial deployment.
What You'll Lead
Project Execution & Strategy
- Manage large capital projects ($100M+) including hydrogen production facilities, derivatives plants, and integrated infrastructure
- Develop comprehensive project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource strategies
- Drive decision-making and resolve complex technical, commercial, and stakeholder challenges
- Chair steering committees and provide executive-level reporting
- Ensure seamless coordination across development, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning
Stakeholder & Commercial Leadership
- Serve as primary contact for executive leadership, investors, government agencies, regulatory bodies, and community partners
- Lead contract negotiations with EPC contractors, equipment vendors, and technology licensors
- Manage relationships to align objectives and secure necessary approvals
- Coordinate public consultations and maintain positive community relations
- Present to boards, investors, and government officials
Financial Oversight
- Develop and control project budgets exceeding $100M with rigorous forecasting
- Lead procurement strategies and contract administration for major equipment and construction packages
- Evaluate and negotiate change orders, claims, and modifications
- Manage project financing coordination and lender compliance
- Support government funding applications and incentive programs
Risk & Safety Excellence
- Implement comprehensive risk management frameworks
- Ensure health, safety, and environmental regulatory compliance
- Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) for hydrogen and chemical facilities
- Conduct safety audits and ensure contractor compliance
- Manage insurance programs and coordinate with risk specialists
Technical & Engineering Oversight
- Provide leadership to multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Review and approve engineering deliverables and facilitate design reviews
- Ensure integration of hydrogen systems with derivatives processing and infrastructure
- Support technology selection and vendor qualification
- Oversee commissioning and startup for safe, reliable operations
What You Bring
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) or Construction Management
- 15+ years of progressive project management experience in energy, oil & gas, chemical, or industrial sectors
- Proven track record delivering projects with capital costs exceeding $100M
- Demonstrated experience managing EPC contracts and major construction projects
- Strong command of project controls (Primavera P6 or MS Project, cost management, earned value management)
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required
- Experience with alternative energy, renewable energy, or clean technology projects
- Expertise in stakeholder management with government, investors, and regulators
- Strong commercial acumen including negotiations, procurement, and financial management
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments
Preferred Experience
- Hydrogen production, storage, distribution, or derivatives manufacturing projects
- First-of-a-kind (FOAK) technology deployment or demonstration facilities
- Ammonia, methanol, or synthetic fuel production processes
- Government funding programs and incentive applications for clean energy
- Carbon capture, low-carbon fuel standards, and environmental credits
- Manitoba or Western Canada energy sector experience
- Advanced degree (MBA, M.Eng., or M.Sc.)
- Public-private partnerships (P3) or alternative project delivery methods
- Indigenous consultation and engagement best practices

About the Location
We have offices in Chilliwack and Burnaby, BC and a demonstration facility in Brandon, Manitoba, with travel to futures project sites and stakeholder locations in the United States (estimated 20-30%).
